No, I didn't ask them that. Was only asking if the download code was for a FLAC option.

Thanks. I wrote clay pipe an email. I'll update this thread once I've heard back.

I see. Well, maybe Clay Pipe want to emulate the model that Devon Folklore Tapes use. In their past releases, it has been exactly the same - download codes only with the limited edition physical product. They don't offer any downloads at all once the release is sold out.

Helps create exclusivity but does lock out people who couldn't order at the time.

I'm just theorising, I don't know for sure.

I can understand a type of person that (a) attaches a lot of value to material things, and (b) is notalgic about times when things could be scarce and ephemeral.

Of course, in this day and age, it just means most people that want it will pirate it. Personally, I was very happy to pay for 52, but was too late for shapwick; if it doesn't show up on brooks's bandcamp in a few years, I'll pirate it. (I should also note that I don't even own a vinyl player or a CD drive; for syro, for instance, I pirated it, never opening my fancy japanese version.)

I only got into Devon Folklore Tapes back at the beginning of the year. Cassettes they had released were in such ridiculously small numbers, I doubt I'd have managed to grab them at the time.

They've never made the digital editions available once the run of tapes was sold. I wrote to Them repeatedly, practically begging them to release them digitally for those who missed out. They never even replied. It's all about creating niches and exclusivity.

Of course, they were quite happy to offer the entire back catalogue digitally if you paid £250 on their recent Kickstarter.

I have most of it digitally now but it didn't come via them.

Rang my brother who opened it and took the snaps. And gave me the code. Won't get to actually feel the vinyl until next Spring.

For those wondering, the code is on a lovely little printed card. The default download is indeed FLAC but I imagine they offer lower quality if you need just mp3.

Had about six or seven listens now. Very beautiful. Some of it reminds me of Eno - Music For Films (1976).

Seems like a really personal album to me. Despite the lovely sounds, there is an underlying current of unease to quite a bit of it.

As if in making the album, Jon discovered memories he would rather have forgotten.

Nostalgia isn't always a pleasant experience.

If you've ordered this, something very special is winging its way to you.

Was hoping this would've arrived for the weekend. It's been dispatched but not a sign of it which has rather pissed me off.

It's worth the wait.

Fuck that shit. It was $37 with shipping from Ghost Box, plus that preview track is as bland a Trafalgar Square fish 'n' chips. Shapwick wasn't very good either. Only thing I like about this so far is the artwork, so no thanks.

Still no sign of this, I suspect my order is lost to the bloody Post Office forever. I've been assured I can get a replacement if it's still a no-show in a few weeks, but I was really looking forward to hearing this while I was off work.

Don't worry, I haven't gotten mine either. All sorts of things can delay mail, and moreover it's possible they weren't all sent on one day.

Thank you sir. Frances Castle herself told me mine was dispatched early, but then it was by second class. Reassuring to know I'm not the only one still waiting.
