The Quinnspiracy Theory, Tropes vs. Women in Video Games & #gamergate

Her analysis on games and pointing out the little minor instances of sexism here and there (never just targeting one obvious target or anything but showing the instances through various game cutscenes, languages etc) suggest she has a pretty good experience/knowledge on the games..

Ie . Has actually played them and not 'some casual gamer person whipping out an attack on the big sexist game industry.'

Shes not trying to shit on or take down any specific game from what i saw, just change the mindset of game writers to be less exclusive and write some better fucking female characters people can relate to. Stop using female characters as cheap writing tools and reenforce negative attitudes torward women.

Whether you agree/disagree is one thing but the kneejerk reaction to try and tear her down is ridiculous and gross no matter how you look at it. She was trying to start a conversation and the reaction turned it into a culture war.. Ew. Way to miss the point entirely...

Anyway. Yes. Agreed. Yes. People are gross. Humanity is fucked!

The thing that really shits me is me .. And a lot of other people on the internet .. Would propably maybe never be talking about sexism in videogames if it weren't for the way the gamergate bullshit has amplified the matter into crazy hot topic discussion stuff. I mean, i care about this shit (like, you know ethics and equality and shit lol) but it (it being sexism in media) is one of those things thats a bit too sesnsitive for me to really express and talk about properly .. especially when its something im not too educated on .. You know? I havent really studied it good and proper so im happy to keep my voice out of the dialogue and just instead read and listen..

And i think a lot of other people are in similar positions.. but now the whole internet got like, almost 'trolled' into having to talk about it. And theres just ignorance and bullshit everywhere ..

Yeah I don't really have a horse in this race either way but I agree, I'm kind of glad that the thing brought this out in the open. The discussion (even if most of it is a shouting match) seems long overdue on account of all the nasty critters that came crawling out from under the rock this turned over.
