Guys, just looking at a WAV and seeing that a limiter was used does not mean it was over-compressed. This is techno music we’re talking about here.

But yeah, pretty amazing track. Actually just kind of magical in the way that it is calm but complex, playful but eerie, beautiful but silly, etc. Amazingly Aphexy in that sense, as has been pointed out.

I don't hear overcompression at all

Thousands of times, from the day it was released! This is not Windowlicker. This is minipops 67. The same artist did both tracks tho.

It's not over-compressed, but there's a bit of pumping when the bass hits.

So the people who bought the 3xLP get the MP3 download only? That doesn't sound right. Can anyone else confirm that they only got MP3 after pre-ordering the 3xLP?

yes I only got mp3 after preordering the 3xlp.

that's the only download we get. bleep doesn't give wav for vinyl preorders anymore, as of last year.

Yeh for sure, sounds like he's really focussed in on the timbres and tones of the instruments.

So, Aphex writes a pop (proper, genuine POP) masterpiece and puts it right at the start of the album. God knows what's in store for the rest.

That rhythmic whiplash, right where the beat kicks in at 4:15 - wow. Made every hair stand up on end, I involuntarily high-fived an imaginary RDJ and did a little moonwalk.

It looks like it's soft clipping a bit but it doesn't sound smashed. And as all good producers would say, don't listen with your eyes. It did sound extra compressed on the BBC 1 and 6 shows, but they've got a load of high end compression going on already over everything they play, which is the standard for radio shows.

It's exceptional.

Ok call me a cunt for my simpleton ways, but this is some old brushed up AFX aka TH almost EXAI.

Although Exai has its moments,

They're all up to their old tricks, aint they?

Just fluffed up, thats it?

No progression beyond their peak, i mean

Aphex is getting childish, playfully psychedelic again. Unmistakable AFXian groove. Nostalgic, beautiful, chill out, classy, with a touch of his quirky smile. Only he can come up with these melodies. Much more complex and layered than Tomorrow's Harvest, that's for sure!

hnow lets not compare notes like that

catching up with the thread now. better `un!!

Person releases beautiful music which is incredibly produced and mixed. Not at all harsh sounding or crushed, the end result is a very pleasurable listening experience. One could say that it sounds great in fact.

People complain about the way the waveform looks.

Why did I think Depeche Mode???

Weird. There's a feel to it with vocals. Probably just me.

Anyway, I didn't rinse the live tracks so hearing the 24-bit is just like finally tracking down a record after hearing it on the radio in the background a couple of times.

"walk in the park with you" is the last bit but the rest I don't know. What did Ian from tDR say 'exteremly personal" was it? It does sound like a serious lyric.

It's a progression. Of course it is. He just gets better and better. You could hear it in the live recordings. Now we have it in UHD.
