Who's going tomorrow to the Syro listening party in Los Angeles?

I put my name, my girlfriend's, my brother's, and my buddy's in. Only I was selected to attend! Which both sucks and is perfect.

Who else here is going?! Super excited. (I know there's a similar topic for this, but I wanted LA peeps specifically that are going to chime in).

There is apparently more than one listening party in LA at the same place. One at 4pm and one at 6.

On the ticket, it says to bring ID.

They did check IDs. The impression I'm getting is that US venues took this shit a hell of a lot more seriously than UK ones did, LOL.

looking forward to the press-only listening party in LA on Monday... I'll post my own 2-cent review that night.

Holy shit...what a night! I was the third person in line, and talking a lot to the first two guys in line. Dude number one in line flew out from Denver just for the listening party!! It was a great time hanging out and making new friends with huge aphex fans.

Also, the venue was awesome! Sound was incredible if you were standing right in the middle of the dancefloor. Very crisp and detailed. Also, the venue let the few of us that were lingering after everybody left stay for the next listening....so a few of us got to hear the album twice! And as for the album itself....

It was gorgeous, plain and simple. The album had a super nice flow. Not at all disjointed. His style has refined and gotten even better. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing. I call it punchy, funky aphex. Most of the tracks had a funky feel to them. It sounded like The Tuss evolved, which is exactly as awesome as it sounds. The production was perfect. And his songwriting has NEVER BEEN BETTER. Seriously, it was eerie how beautiful all of the tracks were. Many people in the audience stared at each other in disbelief throughout many points of the album.

I would say that this is the most impressed I've ever been on first listen of an album of his. I liked it better than the first few times I heard Drukqs or any other of his album. I don't want to comment on how it ranks overall as I have to hear it dozens of more times, but seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being my favorite RDJ album. He chose really really good tracks for this one. Ladies and gentleman, he is back!

6 of the tracks have been available from live shows, and the other 6 I had never heard before.

If I didn't write anything, it's because I don't quite remember what they sounded like....not to say they were bad. I'd venture to say the album just got better and better as it went on.

Track 3: Sorta hip hoppy rhythm, very nice track

Track 4: Minehead (super awesome funky track!)

Track 5: Vibervibed Synth Test

Track 6: Short nice interlude

Thanks for the write-up, have seen these confirmed already, but to have them all in one nice list from someone who clearly recognizes the tracks is great. Looks like this is to be one hell of an album!
