novation super bass station

cheetah ms6

jomox airbase 99

roland mc-202

ive got this amdek percussion synthesizer, its like a guitar fx pedal but just makes nice clicks and sweeps and boings and plips, think its analogue

also got a watkins copicat tape delay, again not a synth

oh and a mc303 lol and a usb midi interface which is analogue too, yeh

:omg:

hey analogue wings, ive built a vsti controller for my jomox, you want a copy? its not finished (not done any work on it for months) but it will control all params on the 1.15 os version

it should control earlier versions too but the 1.15 allowed sample change and sample reverse via midi

heres a pic

it looks like shit and the bank/prog change doesnt work yet..... if i can figure out how to make an xox type step sequencer ill add that,

i can probably add some extra midi synced lfo's with matrix type destinations

Ha, this page is getting kinda silly. Um, in terms of analog, you want a buchla. I've been playing with a buchla music easel for the past year and its absolutely amazing. Puts the arp 2600, polymoog, and Emu modular all to shame. The only problem is finding one and having the moderate sized fortune to spend on it. You could get a new 200e analog hybrid, but a base system costs about 10 grand. Does anyone own a doepfer A-100 portable by chance? Any comments? How about the metasonix wretch or any synthesizers.com modules?

the thing is that we non-us people (btw are you really from YU?) only have a few modular brands to choose from. at least speaking for myself - i really don't feel like spending another ~30% for taxes and custom on a dotcom system. otherwise i'd definitely go with the dotcom - it's cheap and everybody says it's really good. that one-module-per-month plan sounds like a great idea. i wish doepfer had something like that.

buchla... maybe when i'm retired and have too much cash :D

metasonix wretch? it's fuckin expensive plus tube VCOs only offer an octave or so of good tracking...

i've got dance eJay.. it's, like, analogue right?

you can do awesome tunes in it man.. i think the aphex twins should use it

ah I didn't know that about tube VCO's, thanks for the info. I'm based in the states (I'm not even sure what country YU corresponds to). So you've heard good things about the dotcom? It definitly looks promising; I'm just wary of buying something from a company called synthesizers.com, it seems almost equivalent togetting a synth from 1-800-flowers.com; however, oscillators that cost under 200 bucks plus the option of a 24 step sequencer for less than 600 is pretty tempting. How would people rate doepfers compared to what else in on the market?

yeah dotcom is considered quite decent, especially for the money.

afaik there aren't any modular manufacturers that are particulary considered bad... i remember reading some bad reviews of the http://analoguesolutions.com concussor modules but you'd have to check that to be sure. the first thing you need to decide if you're building a modular is the form-factor. there are several different standards - the panel sizes AND the connectors. then you have several brands to choose from according to the format. there's a table of those here: http://www.synthesizers.com/formfactors.html

in the "eurorack" department (that's what doepfer is) i'd go with doepfer. but the fact that it's EU-based counts a lot for me.

you may also consider PAiA - the 9700 system is a nice starting point. they don't have any other "real" (non-combined) modules though.

keep in mind that i haven't ever seen a modular in flesh and only speak from what i read on the 'net. also - subscribe to AH :)

just fyi the front page article of electronic musician is about modular synths... you guys might want to check it out
