Bibio subforum?

As much as I love Bibio, a subforum would be the most useless thing ever

I really don't see that as controversial per se; like Clark, Bibio makes undoubtedly good music, but since he's relatively new on the music scene, his body of work currently is a bit too fresh to be considered alongside the other Featured Artists whose work has stood the test of time. Same reason we didn't add a Clark subforum until it was clear that Clark's work was representative of that criteria.

And I'll add it's not just the passage of time that is a factor - an artist can make music for decades, but if their contribution to electronic music has no real impact on the genre and has no real cohesive fanbase, there would be no reason to have a subforum dedicated to discussion of their music.

I like Bibio's stuff but a subforum? nah.

Plaid can barely keep a sub forum going.

Having more sub forums only dilutes discussion. Dedicated threads with many replies do just as well and are a better a read than a thousand threads all with a few replies in a room that people can't be arsed to look through.

spreading out makes forums less inviting. You just end up with quiet corners and cliques of fans not interacting.

I say cull sub forums, not add more.

Ah, this old debate - the biggest plus for subforums is artists like Clark and Plaid who don't get as much "traffic" as say Aphex or Autechre is that when posts are made, they don't get lost in the shuffle (if they were all in one big forum). Conversely, folks won't need to wade through tons of Aphex and Autechre threads just to find info on what BOC are up to...

Very true. But if something is interesting enough the cream will rise to the top.

It is nice to have a little quiet room for Plaid fans though. It's cosy and polite.

I don't think more subforums would be a benefit though. This place is cool, you don't want it to look like IDMforums.

This was brought up a few years back. I thought it was a good idea then but feel as if the sub forums killed alot of buzz for Clark and Luke vibert releases. I'd love to see the new and upcoming sub get more action anyway. I check it more than anything else.
