Richard D James SoundCloud - A Gift To The Fans

Recommended Posts

Any day now, this thread will pass the length of the Syro thread. Kind of crazy, to think of Syro hype being that far behind, less than a year ago.

The cottages are eternally perfect. Sublime bits of information. Cottages are square sinusoids. Round as a perfect pair of tits.

Play it again, Richie

What era can "5 sline" be from? gives me the Gescom vibes. AE AFX COLAB IS IMMINENT

I'd hazard a guess at ICBYD/Ventolin era.

Sounds great sped up by 33%.

Yeah sounds like it sits somewhere around ICBYD or SAW2.

Speeding up or slowing down tracks...I just can't do it.

To me, it's like saying "yeah, Rich. That's not a bad attempt but budge over and let me have a crack at it. I'll show you how it's done."

No sometimes I just crave the enjoyment of longer moments within a track; so the solution is to slow the track down, but not too much as if it sounds like a completely different track.

I'm usually of the same mindset.

I just did it for a laugh, I also "retuned" it to 432hz, but of course that didn't really change much. I think the point was that it sounds great in a lot of different ways - a testament to how good the track really is.

Yeah, I see that logic. Remixes tend to be more than just slowing down a track, though.

Also, if it's an official release it has the original artists stamp of approval, which really legitimises it for me. [/fanwank]

But yeah, you've got a valid point for sure.

I just want to thank Richard again for the hundreds of free tracks. It's really nice to experience the second coming of RDJ since I missed out on the 90s era. Seeing his creative process and how his sound evolved over the years is so inspiring.

This is the kind of post here :)

His Archive is sick.. Many tracks I got pay him for but he just let all of us in the world have it for free.. Now that is a true Artist!

Yes, we should be really thankful. Also, I'm really hoping Richard is working on that Saw 1.5 re-release and i assume it'll be released on either R&S or Apollo, right?

If it'll be done it'll be done through R&S. Upon the Syro release Renaat ® did an interview on Belgian radio and talked about being contacted by Richard about something. He couldn't elaborate on the content :) *fingers crossed*

Renaat did post on facebook recently that theres going to be a documentary about R&S to be made and aired on Belgian television... maybe Aphex will make an appearance?
