TX81x - editor w/ no PC

hmm. i read that it was lacking some parameters.. which seems kind of stupid. like, if you're going to go to the effort of creating a dedicated hardware controller why leave out stuff? anyhow, is it anything important? considering i'm no fm programming wizard is there anything i'd be missing out on? is there a list of parameters not accessible from box?

Off the top of my head from rereading the TX manual last week, I think it was mainly the EG bias and a couple af LFO parameters that aren't exposed through the panel. Plus all of the Performance settings.

The reason why there are some functions missing is that the maker offers programmers for several synths, and they're all based on the same standardized hardware. Only the firmware and the panel graphics differ between each model.

He just rolled with the TX81Z's coarse & fine pitch control which I always thought was a pretty annoying design flaw. This editor has a mode where it doesn't differentiate between the two, you just set the ratio you want with one slider: http://the-all.org/tx81z/programmer.html

Damn I forgot how good the TX81Z sounded... time to dust mine off.

Nope. Only if two at the same time.

Only one parameter tweaking gives me instant buffer error, something like Level Scale 1. Don't remember.

today's question: if you tweak knobs too fast, (namely the operator level) do you get the mid buffer error?

There's built in latency in the controller to avoid this. I haven't explicitly tried to overrun it, can give it a go tomorrow.
