That's completely ridiculous, especially the part about making leaving the state to seek treatment a felony.  I wonder though if a trans-friendly state would block extradition or even arrest the "offenders" on this.

I live in one of the “bad” areas of Minneapolis and one thing I’d like to elaborate on is that after the pushback that arose from Chauvin killing George Flloyd, the cops have become extremely apathetic. Which is to say, even if you want to call them, they might not even show up. same here in portland in some ways. cops have been sitting on their hands for a long time. the entire time i've lived in portland (about 18 years) the police have been understaffed to some degree but at least had 'anti gang unit' and a unit focused on gun violence that seemed effective. they're pretty overwhelmed and often don't answer calls of some kinds. but then like 20 of them will show on the scene of whatever happens on shift that is deemed important. they were all worn down with the year+ nightly protests too. but, fuckem... the police union sucks here and they leaked info about a local commissioner they don't like and she sued and won and some cops were fired and disciplined. it's a shit show. 

i'm all for reallocating some police funding to mutual aid organizations which has happened here some with promising results. a street outreach organization got funded to come out for non-violent mental health crisis 911 calls. 

mostly i think all the cops need to be retrained and standards need to be raised for employment.. 2 years community college with a focus on local history, police law etc.. a smart curriculum that gives them more tools for understanding wtf is going on their city etc.. 

there's a lot of things that need to change. mutual aid in general is a good idea. not sure how that looks when it comes to policing but anything that tightens up communities to rely on themselves and get organized is a good thing.

yeah I think a problem here in Minneapolis is we have a quintessentially vapid liberal city council and our mayor is a clownish figure, so they suck up all the air and funding from what could be tangible community investments. and if the police really need improvements and resources, they’re either not getting them or getting them from the wrong places. 
 

I’ve had a lot of encounters with the police (for a law-abiding citizen at least) in the last couple years here and 100% of them have been unpleasant for no reason. the city of bad vibes 

the slim chance of just 1 cis child being slightly harmed by taking hormones outweights for them the real and guaranteed chance of orders of magnitude more trans children being harmed by not taking hormones.  and its all wrapped up in language meant to pretend like it's meant to protect children.  no, it's to protect cis children at the expense of trans children, all based on misconceptions that cis children are accidentally taking hrt at any measurable rate.  these narratives are pushed by social media and spread by multi billion dollar media companies. truly disgusting. that's not even taking into account all the issues that made it hard for trans kids to get hrt to begin with like lack of knowledge that trans people even exist because it's blocked from being covered in sex ed and not comprehended by popular culture in those regions, as well as social pressures to pretend to not be trans outwardly and even inwardly. the push towards conformity and lack of ability to live with the mere thought of different kinds of people from oneself existing indicates the extremely childish worldview of the typical conservative.  humanity is in so many perspectives in a lord of the flies scenario even though we've somewhat managed to create food distribution systems and avoided wars, it has simply been stratified into class groups determining who is allowed to receive violence and who is allowed to dispense it.  humanity is not civilized, definitely nothing more than animals who have managed to spread apart enough to not step on each others toes to the point of savage violence.  only in the coming millenia will humanity even begin to enter a civilized age, and the distinctions of the past will become more and more meaningless.  at some point feudalism will be indistinguished from capitalism and even primitive socialism and primitive communism because of their outright barbarity and lack of advancement in comparison to where humanity will, hopefully, be in the year 3,000
