The child is recovering, and there are about 7 cases reported every year. Mostly from wildlife bites. It's also very easily treatable with antibiotics.

I'm pretty sure you have to be diagnosed with a disease before you can recover from it. And it clearly stated 3 cases in the US, not worldwide. It's treatable yes, but you don't think it still sucks for the child, or for his parents? Jeez, I can only imagine the stress and worry they went thru. It's still spread mostly by fleas right? Flea infested rat bites seems to be fewer now than back in the Middle Ages, at least hopefully in that area.
