Aphex Twin: Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 EP

Recommended Posts

jbrace1970 did a very faithful description of the record. as a long AFX fan myself, i'd say : thinks drukqs prepared piano pieces with ("acoustic") beats, a bit like pierre bastien adding breaks (funkydrumming?) or beats to his tracks, but its way closer to drukqs piano trax than pierre bastien. its a great record, quite moody, a bit strange sure, and it reminds me of john cage piano pieces also. i think you can hear strange voices in the background at times. it's not really pop or catchy, bit weird, a bit like some haunted dyfunctional gamelan ensemble playing in the middle of the night.

i'm shocked this hasn't leaked yet with all the people apparently hearing it. i mean, i don't want it to leak. i already bought it twice. please don't ban me.

Thanks for the description both of you lucky enough to already obtain it! Sounds like it is exactly what I was hoping for :)

Syro seems like a very self aware record in terms of sound & production, with all those vintage synths (with even those jan hammer percussions) from the late 70s+80s. The whole syro palette seems really synths based, while on the ep, all the tracks have those acoustic sounds palette (prepared piano, real drums), so it make sense those 2 records with 2 strong identities are separated. Thinks of a small dysfunctionnal gamelan ensemble.

It definitely makes sense to separate these two, although combining it could give an album a lot more depth I guess. It gave Drukqs more personality than Syro has imo. Taking that into consideration, Drukqs was critized for just that and his approach for Syro seemed to make it as accessible as possible, so in that way his choice for this makes sense.

sort of underwhelmed by that live track, feels very straightforward, rhythm-wise. was hoping for some more sort of dense, abstract fuckery, not relaxed jazzy shit.

the early part of the beat recalls vitamin c by can

the gamelan description is spot on,i didn't know what gamelan was,but after watching the vid someone put on here I'm converted, yes think gamelan and a very good funky drummer and some ghostly aphex sounds, its kind of like a puzzle and I'm trying to figure out what order to mix the tracks in and its driving my mrs nuts

:yeah:

I got that today, too. It also says...

"Delivery Method: International Mail (7-28 Days)"

28 FUCKING DAYS?!?!?!?

I think they forgot I was actually CHARGED EXTRA for shipping. Wtf.

Syro/Bleep flashbacks, all over. That was 3 weeks late.

Just went to watmm.com and the splash page was the EP cover. Anyone else had this? (sorry if old news).

From people's descriptions, this sounds like it's going to be good. Love his haunting piano stuff and if there's tidy beats then even better

jbrace pls

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Not to worry. This post only makes me extra hyped.. and a tiny bit relieved. Friday can't get here soon enough.

I want to pick up the 12" in the post after work on Friday and stick it on without any interruptions, is that too much to ask, 2015?

surprisingly, no dipshit has (yet) shared the files.. pretty unusual. i wonder if it'll hold out for the remaining few days.
