Jake Phelps, the editor of Thrasher Magazine has died. Weird dude, but he made cool things happen.

Also tragically Thrasher's founders both passed away years ago. Vitello of a heart attack and Swenson of a really jarring suicide in front of a police station to spare family or friends from discovering his body.

His health was getting pretty bad in the end, after a long time with the usual physical ailments that come with height and old age. It was a big deal he was able to shoot A Force Awakens for that reason. He then served as a "Chewbacca Consultant" for TLJ and handed over the role to Joonas Suotamo, the action double, completely. Honorary role mostly but if you think about it he and other costumed actors (Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Warwick Davis) have this distinct subtle mannerisms. So there was actual advice to be given to Suotamo about posture, stride, etc., who has taken over the role of Chewie seamlessly. 

Found out a few years ago he's lived in North Texas and became an American citizen awhile back. Very modest and low key life. He was a user on reddit, mostly replied to fans. Last post was this.
