The best thing about making music is paying an Indian man 30$ on freelancer.com to comment 500 times on your tracks from unique user accounts.

either way, fake comments or not, that guys really good. but who the hell fakes comments for IDM?! who are they trying to impress?

its a number/metrics game to give the illusion the person's music is a lot more popular than it is. I get sent spam emails constantly about buying 10k followers on twitter or getting '1,000 comments on soundcloud' and its all surprisingly very cheap. A lot of the people on twitter I see have obviously fake follower accounts purchased from overseas operations. Sometimes ill just run across some totally random dude with almost 90k followers who never gets any retweets or favorites. Its interesting that people do this, but im sure it's worked for some people .

I could understand if it was hiphop, pop or even trap/dubstep but IDM?? what's the point? Most listeners are too intelligent for it to work on

Is this the best way to achieve success though? What was the equivalent back in the early nineties? Payola for hardcore gabba?

Buying likes/followers etc is really odd. I mean, I get it, why people do it, to seem more popular in order to gain interest. But, You're only fooling yourself. Point is, no one is listening to your music anyway regardless of how many followers you have. False kudos is no kudos.

Anyway, does it even work? are listeners that fickle that they would choose to click a tune in their feed that have thousands of plays as opposed to hundreds or even tens?

Not soundcloud but new Rod Whitters > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI1c5uvcp4Q

yikes this is fresh, been a fan of rod whitters for time now, still no release , get the feeling if rephlex was still around the stuff would be out already (even by their standards :p)

Funny I just came to this thread to post about Whitters and here you are beating me to it. Love his stuff, giving it all a good re-listen now. I guess nobody ever got anywhere on who this is right?

I think they're all old from old listens, but I only gave it a quick listen; maybe some of them came from some short snippets he posted before. They're all fantastic at any rate. I think he's at his best when channeling classic Bochum Welt.
