The communist "insurrection" in Vietnam was actually not an insurrection where "the oppressed and the victorious got the righteous victory they deserved after a heavy sacrifice of human life."

The various Communist factions in Vietnam took advantage of a gap in power at the end of WW2 (as the Japanese had gotten rid of all the French colonialists, and after Japanese surrender, the government they installed did not prove sufficient to maintain order in the country) and launched a mass attack on government offices throughout the country.

The Communists proceeded to then quash political dissent, and it is still a serious crime to speak out against the Communist party in Vietnam today.
