Hyperparasites are consummately IDM! Here's an example:

The caterpillar of a Cabbage White Butterfly:

The Cotesia Wasp is a parasite upon this caterpillar. The female implants the young caterpillars with her own larvae:

The caterpillar grows large, much larger than normal thanks to hormones released by the many Cotesia larvae inside of it, eating it from the inside:

But this hormone also attracts the Lysibia wasp:

She waits for the Cotesia larvae to emerge en masse from their Caterpillar host:

Then she will implant her own eggs into the Cotesia larvae that are now vulnerable:

Now THAT is IDM. Too little too late I guess :(

Would be curious to see hyperparasites fighting dreaming about lucid dreaming, since they're two sides of the same coin if you ask me.
