Who will survive tonight, anyone? I still wouldn't be surprised if they tie it back to season 1 as the big twist.

not bad last episode-

fuck that was sobering... real noir for the 21st century. give it a couple months to sink in. everyone got the world they deserved. watchmen-esque ending was perfect, also.

i teared up, but in honor of Ray, held it back.

man, that was some heavy shit. a couple of unexpected turns, as expected. wrapped it up nicely while making you reflect. I loved the firefights, especially assaulting the cabin. it reminded me a lot of Heat.

IN MY OPINION ALERT!!!:

i tried really hard to enjoy this season, but the finale just made it all come into perspective. while the other episodes were at least kinda funny, this one just came off as a rushed, cobbled-together mess. i think he should have either made the characters gta-like parodies of california plastic types or grounded them more in reality. in the end, most of them just ended up unsympathetic and one dimensional with very little believable behavior. the crime parts were confusing and the entire casper/jeweller mess just felt like a farce by the end. first season was by no means the amazing masterpiece some people thought it was, but it was very solid and entertaining television. while that season showed some signs of thinking too highly of itself, this one seems to have no sort of self awareness at all. the ending scenes for each characters travelled well beyond cheeseville.

at this point i hope mr pizzolatto goes ham with some proper mystery/horror shit for s3, there are too many bland gruff cop shows already.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

If the first season ended on a slightly more positive note, this one ended on a more negative note. The powers that be ended up getting their rail system and shady corrupt politicians got their kickbacks and the game continues to be played. One ungerground player gets ousted only to be replaced by another. I guess the idea was to convey the hopelessness of fighting against an established order. The protagonists ended up either dead or on the run. The Elroy influence was pretty blatant in this season. Not as strong as the first one, but quality TV nonetheless, but it's not a high bar. I wonder if there will be a third season, since most have been slamming this season, which I don't really get. I guess people expected more of the same.

I like that Velcoro died in a redwood forest (bohemian grove). There seem to be traces of history in the show and all around I like the personal drama etc. I'm guessing there's a lot of symbolism in the show but I didn't look all of it up. It did to me have a feeling of very cliche noir / cop drama for a while but with traces of a more modern and nuanced setting and writing

season came good.

afaik i usually place all my cum drops on scientifically sterilized glass slides which are carefully frozen and placed in trash cans throughout the city labelled "for women ❤️ alco" with my social security and phone numbers.

The baby was Velcoro's because McAdams' character said that his sons (plural) needed to know the truth.

Frank walking in the desert seeing mirages was really cool.

I'm fuzzy on when they stared following Frank and Ray. All the way from the train station shootout? Those two cars were the untraceable ones Frank requested from his ethnic friends. Unless those two double crossed him, and they did look at each other suspiciously a few times, that's a plot hole. Also, wasn't Ray's fuel line cut when he came back to the car? That looked like gasoline all over the ground, then how did he get way out in the woods without running out of gas? Or are the Redwoods that close to LA suburbs?
Did Holloway die with the blue diamonds in his possession? I'm glad he was killed by other cops, he deserved it. The kid stabbing him furiously was a fuck yeah moment.

Oh yeah, Vince Vaughn is fucking 6'5", (along with Christopher Lee and Vincent Price, one of the tallest leading men in history) how would that suit not look ridiculous on that thug? I wasn't thinking Frank was still trying to hold onto his diamonds but that makes sense.

Velcoro's Charger was still the same one he was always driving. I think his Audi and his henchman's were the two untraceable ones - hence no tail on Frank.

Ray's fuel line wasn't cut - there was water on the ground (must have been filmed before the drought ;))

that was really good- especially since it was intercutting with velcoro's destiny

a little bit too derivative of a Breaking Bad style wrap up but I felt this season had a much stronger ending than Season 1. Still weird they didn't connect too much of the story to Season 1. What was on those tapes Casper had?

weren't there weird sex parties talked about in season 1? I was thinking some Illuminati type shit was in control.

I thought they were always intended to be self-contained anthologies with no connection.

Best ending to a show since Deadwood.

Also, there were a ton of Michael Mann "homages" in this series.

Especially references to "Thief" and "Heat", as well as a little bit of "Miami Vice".

I vaguely remember trying to watch Stalker after drinking a bottle of gin and I can only assume Nebraska does a similar thing watching this show.

It took awhile to get going but on the whole I enjoyed the series, even Vaughn pulled it out the bag which I wasn't expecting, but unlike the first series I can't imagine I'll watch it again.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

the reveal of who the 'bird man' was I thought very disappointing and cheeseball, but I liked the overall feel of the last episode.

Especially dug the blackwater team going in for the kill at the end among the redwoods.

the videos on Casper's harddrive were encrypted?
