Wondering because i can't rly seem to find a decent source for underground electronic music that isn't just ol run of the mill AFX rip offs.

ALSO one of the reasons I'm asking is because i p much listen to mostly aphex, square pusher, venetian snares etc. but i don't know of many up and coming artists that are actually unique...

GET OUT! *kicks out WATMM front door*

Don't come back till you're ready to sacrifice various animals for our one true lord.

In all sincerity you should probably give examples of your degree of uniqueness. I mean I've heard some pretty damn IDMesque Trap music which isn't the AFX imitatorness us WATMMers are known for, but somehow I know you're not looking for that :P

Why not branch out of provincially minded IDM music and go check out some experimental dubstep artists? Like that one guy AFX recommended in that one interview recently.

Don't bother. Genres usually attract uninteresting artists when they've been around for this long. The same happened for neofolk, black metal, doom metal, post-rock, post-punk, prog rock, and pretty much every other style of music. That's why Western classical music goes through so many distinct chronological periods.

My favorite new electronic musician is Oneohtrix Point Never, but I haven't found anyone else who captures my attention that much. DJ Koze's nice, I guess. Amygdala was an incredible album. Sleep Research Facility is also great, but I guess he isn't that new.

well drillkicker, generalizations doesn't do anyone good. Most artists in every genre aren't experimental artists.

regardless, what trax do u recomment from point never?

...yes sir electronic music (especially dance music) has been chugging along being awesome and innovative all this time. There's a whole lot of great, IDM-influenced stuff out there and I'm happy to inform you that you no longer need to settle for 15 year old Warp Records releases to get your fix.

IDM is pretty much done for imo, because it's hard to stay in the same realm of relation without doing something that has been done before.

If you wanna listen to idm, listen to the originals. If you want something new, look for it in a different genre.

Sean Ae yeah so many of these analogue forums are people 90% bragging ang 10% uploading tracks that go fdghfgdhfddhgasfgdsfdsahfdfhdsgfgds

I like the noisy distorted industrial sounding stuff coming out of EU recently. Check my Low Jack thread.

bcuz im sick of hearing the same shit over and over again. really, really tired of the whole compressed kick fly-lo hip hop stuff thats so popular these days too and the boring heavy kick, super delayed/pitched high hat idm.

I WANT TO FEEL INTIMIDATED BY SOMEONES MUSIC IS THAT A GOOD ENOUGH WAY TO EXPLAIN THE UNIQUENESS IM LOOKING FOR

will do bruv

EDIT: just skimmed through their band camp. lots of interesting things. good call. some proper IDM. weird and isn't formulaic.

wrong, self defeatist and also possibly the worst artist self fulfilling prophecies of all time (if one makes music or art and thinks inside this paradigm). I find this mindstate horribly depressing and sad, no offense to you personally this is a mantra i hear over and over again from people who actually believe it (and in doing so stifle themselves and the scenes they frequent)

thanks for checking it out, don't listen to anybody who says 'idm is dead' and that 'idm influenced dubstep' is somehow more forward thinking than people trying to break new ground (or who continue to pave their own paths) inside of the context of idm.

Damn, this thread moved fast. Anyway, the best OPN song is Returnal. Sleep Dealer and Problem Areas are also very good. You can't really go wrong with Oneohtrix, save for some trax on Rifts and the Commissions EPs.

Herr Cookie Monster and I are befuddled by the second half of your statement.

Fuckin' Grischa fuckin' Lichtenberger of course. Just check out the labels Raster Noton, mego (now known as editionsmego), Touch ... flipping tons of stuff out there for new sounding IDM an' that

EDIT: Some bonus Raster Noton stuff from Atom tm

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.
