okay, I have been tryong for years to get into classical music, to no avail.

the only composer I stil listen and apprecaiate are those who are able to relax:

no mozart, beethoven, bach for me. its too fast, complicated and eventually boring for me.

I like feeling, and often I find classical very pedagogic and cold.

:confuzzled: beethoven too cold? can't relax? imo his music is the warmest music ever written

maybe I didnt express it well enough. some classical music I found too cold, not beethoven. beethoven, I find some parts beautiful, but imo, it always end up being ruined with the fast sections, or how the song constantly has to go from slow to fast, ect.

I find that many classical seems to try to be impressive, with very complicated progressions. but as complicated as it gets, it doesnt necessarly make the song better.

I have immense respect, but imo, it often ends up failing to deliver feelings for me and it becomes cold because of that.

anyways, I keep trying and trying. this week was with charles Ives.

the one's I really like and still listen:

Chopin

Bartok

John Cage

mahler

You ever given Debussy a go? He's probably my go-to guy for solo piano pieces, but he's done some beautiful orchestral stuff as well.

2:07 in that one is one of the best drops i ever heard.

Also Grieg has some nice piano stuff, especially if you're already into Chopin.

Romantic music is definitely my least favorite period and Beethoven is the one responsible for it.

debussy is def good stuff, and ive tried often and listened to him a lot. at the end, I find his music to sound very similar and eventually, I get bored but his ambience in his songs is truly special.

I definitely will explore again. I find that I prefer, overall, piano sonatas over everything else in classical music.

My absolute favorite piano sonata is from Schubert by schnabel. so powerful, yet so contained.

i wonder do anyone uses samples from classical music? like blending classical into electronic music, mostly adding drums. the first thing what comes from my mind is 'royal astronomy', but there isn't really a samples from classical pieces in it.

Carl Off - O Fortuna - Carmina Buranna (a few records sampled that in the early 90's)

Mozart - Requiem - Lacrimosa
