the best alternative to this sadly is to live 100% in the moment and give zero fucks about any perverse or strange sexual appetites you might have. I proposed the premise of a massive Gmail database leak last year and while that idea may sound far fetched, I don't think we're too far off from an absolutely massive hack of some kind that will reveal something 'private' about every single one of us who was 'dumb' enough to put anything private on the internet. It sucks but we all need to be prepared for it imo. Its surreal and creepy to think a 'stasi effect' in theory at least could all be brought on by a deranged teenage hacker and not a totalitarian government

Would be akin to us being able to read each other's minds. Jarring and surprising at first but ultimately beneficial. Conservative hypocritical prudishness would be obliterated almost immediately. It might be uncomfortable, but many positive things are initially. Would be extremely beneficial for politics I believe.

being able to read eachothers minds would actually be better than the situation i laid out. Thinking you know someone else's deep dark secrets or 'true humanity' via a data leak VS actually reading their mind

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Although it's not an allegation, that was the claim by the hacking group.

yeah from what I understand Ashley Madison acknowledged the data breach already and released a press release. If it doesn't get leaked as ridiculous as its going to sound I'd bet that someone involved in the hack is being paid off in some way to keep a lid on it, especially if anyone very rich or powerful can be 'ruined' over the data leaking

I'm still pretty impressed how well the lid was kept on The Fappening. After the initial burst of nude pictures the availability of them and the videos on the net became increasingly worse until the story virtually disappeared off the internet. Still curious what went down behind the scenes that actually caused all of the media to stop bringing light to that hack

People got bored of it? And to get the photos it looks like all you have to do is type "the fappening" into google.....

Ashley Madison is claiming to somehow have recovered and deleted the leaked data? or am I understanding that wrong?

http://www.businessinsider.com/ashley-madison-secures-stolen-customer-data-2015-7

is that site credible at all? I've never heard of it (business insider I mean)

also: "The hacker group said the leaked customer list included Ashley Madison members who had paid to have their data deleted."

So apparently it was only people that used the websites "full delete" option that had their data leaked/stolen..

quoting self so as to not be screwed by chen's untimely new page >=(

Sorry for the untimeliness.

Data that has been put out on the open internet is virtually impossible to secure. And I don't think it was just people who had used the "full delete" option who had their details revealed.

To be honest it's all too easy to fake e-mail addresses in this day and age, so I wouldn't take this leak very seriously at all. All these people are innocent until actual solid proof has been provided.

while the e-mails can be faked, it's the credit card info that will get them cooked (the impact team actually addressed this in their memo with "users almost always pay with credit card; their purchase details are not removed as promised, and include real name and address, which is of course the most important information the users want removed.")

according to alm (who own ashley madison) they claim to have the profile of the person responsible for the data leak "right in front of" them

actually it wasn't that simple, maybe during the first 2 waves of leaks but not for the series of videos which came towards the end including actual female celebrities masturbating. Its highly doubtful the public would have been too bored, some PR outfit was definitely called in to help clean up the mess and no doubt celebrities lawyers got together and send a shit load of cease and desist letters out to various file sharing sites and media outlets linking to the leaks. The fact that there wasn't even much of a follow up on the criminal investigation behind who did it is also pretty remarkable

but then again you did claim I was a conspiracy theorist for thinking it was a coordinated PR campaign to make light of Russia gay rights laws, i think you even made some joke about how I imagine Obama calling Eric Schmidt on the phone or something cartoonish, lol but thats just how you roll so im ok with it

^^ actually the fappening events were kinda funny. originally everyone (including the media) were excited because a bunch of nude pictures from celebrities had been released so they ran with headlines like "see jennifer lawrence nude now". then jennifer lawrence and some other girls released statements saying it was abuse to have their pictures leaked and they were going to sue to the media change their tune to "why leaking people's pictures without their consent is wrong why you're an asshole for looking at them".

the feds eventually fingered a guy called emilio herrera and claimed he had something to do with the fappening leak, but he had also screamed he wanted his privacy to be protected so the media got confused and ran a little blurb on the capture. unfortunately, most people weren't interested and everyone eventually moved onto more juicy events such as furgerson etc

Are you saying it's not that simple to get the photos/videos? If that's the case, simply type in "the fappening" and click the first link

Or if you're arguing that it wasn't simply that people got bored of it - I'm sure it wasn't that simple, and that there was a whole host of PR teams and lawyers going after Apple. But I also think the general public is extremely fickle, and attention spans for media brooha is notoriously short.

As for the second part of your post - I don't think I ever posted before about the fappening, cause I honestly, truly do not give a shit. If you can provide some post on here where I made said statements (that you were a conspiracy theorist for this particular "news item") please link them. I certainly never made the imagined joke. I also think Russia's gay rights laws are horrendous, so I'm not sure where you're going with all of that.

the russian laws aren't as repressive as they were made out to be, which was a 100% psyop to spoil the winter olympics, we haven't had the media talking about it in any substantial way before or since. So 'horrendous' is hyperbole at best. At the time i found a very well researched article by an guy that was both a lawyer and gay who gave a break down of the russian law they were all carrying on about, shame i didn't save the link for just such an occasion as this.

nwae, government propaganda is real and all our enemies deserve their daily two minutes of hate.

Yeah yeah, you gotta fight fire with fire - horrendous might be a bit of a stretch, but really, those kinds of laws have no place in a civilized society. Idiotic would be a better description of the laws.

The laws didn't do what the media was saying that they did, they didn't repress gay rights from where they already stood, the whole thing was a beat up. That's why i mentioned the article that lawyer wrote, he basically debunked the whole media operation. The same operation that tells us about weapons of mass destruction and assad gassing his people and so on and so forth, the data log in your mind about the matter needs to be erased or updated.

Cheers.

THey did repress gay rights further - it was a vaguely worded law that banned the promotion of gay activities. Anyhow yes yes, america and the west is evil, putin is just a strong man standing up for his people.
