Nice, I really want to be in a Steely dan crossed with Snarky Puppy type band. Trouble is there is no one around here with the right styles to form said band. Also, I am not quite up to scratch myself so we'd be a poor version ha

Nice man! I dig... Sounds like a fun vision. "Poor Version" would actually be a cool name for a project :D

I really enjoyed it, went by really fast, real straightforward. I still find the idea of r lee ermey esque teacher of jazz music absurd but that said the whole maddening obsession over perfection and greatness by both musician / mentor is gripping. And the drumming scenes are pretty fucking cool.

(unless you actually mean jazz/funk, which I don't hate)

i enjoy playing a bit of jazz/funk, probably more slick on guitar.

Ooh we should all chat then, cuz I'm actually more talking about that fine line between that soulful jazz-funk / r&b from the 80s and the Japanese-influenced fusion / progressive jazz / funk / pop stuff like:

And

and the hotel lounge feel like:

Not necessarily that smoooth kenny g type stuff which im not wanting to play really either. I have a crazy ambitious vision of fusing these sounds of the videos i listed above with hints of certain other influences, which if anyones interested, feel free to pm me and we can chat more :D i have a project in mind that id love to collab with likeminded creative peeps on, its a little hard to sort out where to start but maybe we can experiment with some things if anyones down and has a similar vision :D

If I take a guitar solo without thinking about it I sort of default to an 80s stylee holdsworth legato through a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier sound. It's pretty embarrassing in most modern instances, but uh, I'm here for you if needed. lol?

I mean, I'm not nearly that proficient but I can fake it sorta.

Dude awesome, thanks! Sounds legit (: would love to hear that.

Meanwhile, I did this pseudo jazzy 80s pop track and also a faux-bossa nova / fusion track on my last donovan release... Not that this is really close at all to those videos, but theres a breezy spirit to it i guess.

I've done a couple jazz compositions on my soundcloud, would love to talk more about it with you, but you can get an idea from my soundcloud.

I'm a semi-pro jazz musician. Been making money with it for about 8 years. Probably played a good hundred gigs by now. Bass/Piano/Vocals. I can work out whatever. Ragtime to Robert Glasper. I know jazz theory like the back of my hand. But am I gonna lend you my expertise...ha! no. HA! never.

Hi

I play jazz trumpet

I have been playing since I am 16 years old

I know many standards and particularly tunes that jazz trumpeters played

as well as most of the skatalites material especially Don Drummond compositions

here is a few examples

One is a new band I helped form with the bassist that focuses on Jamaican Ska and Jazz

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI3QOfLIxhE

and this is me testing out a new horn that I was endorsed to play

This is an out jazz group I play in

and this is me fucking around with electronics and my horn

I use a different set up that includes a pedalboard with a loop pedal

and also incorporating the kaoss pads

Anyway

Yeah I play Jazz and its outer realms

If you want horn on something I would be down

it would be cooler if you were in NY and we could play live

I use drum machines mainly MPC's - Roasty: Are you Black ?
