Aphex DX9 Patch conversion to FM8

Did anyone ever continue this? Seeing as the Volca FM supports .sysex files from the DX7 this could be imported to it. Would be lush. Very lush, in fact.

dx9 is 4op so dx7 won't produce the same results. too bad my fb01 doesn't support tape input :/

Easy, just turn OP5 and OP6 off?

not sure how algorithms compare between 4op and 6op with two ops turned off, so maybe yes, maybe not really.

Yeah, looks algorithm 2 on the DX9 can't be mapped directly to the DX7's algorithms. The closest thing on the DX7 seems to be algorithm 14? It's a bit unclear whether OP5 is fed into both OP4 and OP6.

 

The others should work fine with two OPs turned off:

1 maps to 1

3 maps to 17

4 maps to 16

5 maps to 29

6 maps to 24

7 maps to 31

8 maps to 32

Like I mentioned unless I was doing something wrong 19 of the 20 appeared to be exactly the same patch, and the remaining 1 was corrupted.
