In the recording that Kavinsky posted @ 9:05mins Sean mentions some software, sounds like "Vismod" or "Fismod". Google doesn't give me anything, does anyone know which software he's referring to?

I think he says physmod = physical modeling.

What he talks about is how ppl use phys mod to literally recreate traditional instruments, without playing around with it.

that makes sense thx for clarifying. I'm almost finished with translating the interview snippets btw, i'll upload it sometime tomorrow.

looking forward to reading the translation, thank you Anwar. I thought i might have heard 'physmod' but i thought i was hallucinating. autechre were fairly oblique when asked about it in the AAA

thought this part was amusing

Sean: In the beginning we made electro. The sounds that we emulated were pure „electronicsounds“. We tried to build sounds which didn’t exist before. Nowadays, there is a sort of backwards trend: Musicians use the software physmod without playing around with it

They produce sounds which literally sound like classical instruments, which is acceptable, but I don’t find that to be particularly interesting

i'm not familiar with anyone using physical modeling to emulate classical music, maybe someone could clue me in to what he's talking about

Thank you again!

...later i'll read everything: English - German - English - Italian. After four passages, what will remain of their words will be a reckless pursuit of "automatic writing", definitely abstract and hermetic. Perhaps, even better!

Thanx for that recording. It was quite insightful.

I agree on the "echo chamber" problem. Is it possible to wire them with AI to create a kind of intelligent tree?

Classical in the sense of 'traditional', i.e. acoustic instruments in general.

But I have to tell you: I am a father of two children and want to be able to provide something for my teenage kids. That is not always the case financially and it really breaks my heart.

Fuck that hurt. A lot.

Yeah it's very interesting to hear Rob talk about their financial situation. It really surprised me, them being one of the top Warp acts, that he still has these financial issues.
