Is this good!?!?!?!

You definitely should check it, it's growing up on me like crazy, very few pop/rock album had this effect on me. The context if Bowie's death (so weird to say it this way...) makes the album even more special but it's really amazing anyway.

And yeah, I Can't Give Everything is a beast of a closed. More than just an album closer track and it definitely feels it was written with this in mind

I listened to "Blackstar" earlier and I had goosebumps the whole way through. What a great way to go out.

Not sure if it has been said already, but the artwork

The little black parts under the big star spell bowie..which leaves the big black star as some sort of metaphorical davids star. in short, it means david bowie...

I'm not familiar with any of Bowie's work. Is this a good place to start?

doesnt seem like a bad start.

albums i'd recommend checking (on youtube, streaming, ... just the singles even?) = Low + Heroes + Lodger, the eno produced albums. Station to Station. The man who sold the world. Scary monsters.

+1

there really isn't a bad place to start except anything from the 80s

I would work towards Black Star. It's not that it's a bad start, it's just more like a reward. Listen to 3 other Bowie albums, develop a relationship with the music, then treat yourself to Black Star.

Or do what I'm doing right now and go through the discography chronologically. His career has followed a fascinating musical trajectory with a lot of surprises. Lots of rapid artistic growth from album to album.

Sounds good to me

Unreleased David Bowie songs recorded during the sessions for his final album 'Blackstar' could be released posthumously, according to reports.

Bowie released his final album 'Blackstar' on his 69th birthday last week (January 8), just days before passing away on Sunday (January 10).
With 'Blackstar' expected to top the charts in both the UK and US this week, The Los Angeles Times reports that there could still be some unheard Bowie music on its way.
"There are five more songs from these sessions that have yet to be released. So look forward to next Christmas and hope for a deluxe edition," Sasha Frere-Jones writes in an article published prior to Bowie's death.

Thanks user487363530. And user4873635301. Now 48736353001.

I listened to the album 4 times the day it came out and haven't revisited it since his death. I'm not sure I'm ready to yet.

The totality of his final "piece" (the musical, videos, album) in light of its underlying context is just so intense and true to everything that made him the single most important artist to myself and so many others.

- Look up here, I'm in heaven. Everybody knows me know.

I was the same, it's still very hard but I made myself listen to it yesterday and glad I did.

I haven't actually heard the album yet, it's on the way, managed to snag a vinyl before the frenzy.

I'm new to Bowie (relatively) and this news for whatever reason resonated quite a bit, I was legitimately upset that he died despite only knowing maybe 20 of his tracks.

I've got a feeling this album will have an impact, when I hear it.

For those who are *really* interested, the below shows up a few very interesting effects and some absolutely amazing musicianship:

7:40 onwards is a particularly "whoa" moment.

New Future Image album, Definite Complex, out now!
FUTURE IMAGE RECORDS

Future Image Definite Complex
Intelligent Dasein Sound Experiments #1
papertiger harmonizing the seams
P/R/P/E The Speed of Revolution
William S. Braintree This is Story

Kaleid Machines

Just dropped by the local record shop and they had a copy of the vinyl still going for twenty quid - result.

It's being repressed anyway so I expect the crazy discogs prices will drop down soon enough.
