Thought Orlando sound was terrible and over-bassy

Miami is good. just after the 47 minute mark is some sickness.  jaw dropped.

Glad it wasn't just me, I was really bummed and didn't enjoy the set that night. My friend who is more of a fair weather fan left 20 mins in. Hearing a seemingly completely different set on headphones, much more enjoyable to hear it as intended.

 

The show at brooklyn masonic was my first ae live, and I was proper pumped the whole set. Maybe the sound wasnt perfect, but compared to most/all other concerts, i was blown away by just what they were playing.  I was more bothered by the bright-ass exit signs which dont allow for darkness vibe, but you can blame that on US building codes.

I was at the Los Angeles show, but I'm starting off with Chicago. Very pleased with how divergent things seem to get around the 30 minute mark. Getting through those first 30 minutes in all 19 of these new sets is likely going to be a chore though; if they are at all like the 9 live releases we've had for the last several years, I'm expecting that the opening 8 tracks or so will not contain enough variation to suit my tastes. About 53 minutes into Chicago now though, and my brain is being fully rewired! Mental!

It is clearly impossible to distinguish one date from another, all different yet similar, spread over a duration of more than a whole day. In other words, it will no longer make sense to have a "favorite date", randomly choose from the 28, as if they were a single date, each time generated as if it were the first...

very interesting. shows Eno's influence on their work too. Didn't Eno release an app that does what you are describing: same 'piece' of music, but different variation each time you listen?

IIRC the app Eno designed wasn't different variations with every listen but rather a constant flow of generative music.

 

I gave Miami and Montreal a shot, both are awesome. The system they designed seem to never reach its limits but I'm very curious about how Ae next era will sound like!

I definitely listen to it sort of without reference, like I'm listening to the same set but obviously it's not. Having so many more variations now is pretty great, really going to blur the lines even more, which imo is great. Listen to the same set hundreds of times but it never really settles or becomes too familiar. It's a different and pretty unique experience, though obviously comparable to 'traditional' bands playing songs live of course.

But when are we going to get the 24bit FLAC recording of this!!?

I find all the sets really different once you get to know them, they all have different personalities which make the connective familiarity completely fresh. You just have to spend time with them individually, which is hard when 19 soundboards land in your lap, but I know I'll be mostly dedicating my time towards Portsmouth for the next couple days. Eventually a set feels a bit played out for now and you explore another one. I find it easiest to treat them as individual albums which are all somewhat remixes of Krakow.

Portsmouth is on constant loop with me, the god of smooth. Best I've heard since Krakow. So jealous of those who were there live.

Glad to have the Vancouver one. I completely forgot how it sounded because I was fucked up on a lot of substances. Mainly just remember ambermonk, sweepstakes and throwing a small asian man into the crowd at the end. I was FUCKED.

Big, big and known problem that of the right recipe to be consumed before a live. If it is intolerable the idea of tackling one of those few fundamental opportunities in which we will see R_S live in our lives, precluding a good part of the deepest immersion, it is also true that, to mistake the ingredients or lack the balance among these, it leads us straight to one of our biggest remorse: having lost autechre despite being inside. It happened on other occasions (venetian snares, battles .. a small mistake due to the rush and the risk of falling into the reactionary laws that we made with our hands, and here is canceled reality and experience at the root) ...but it is thanks to a lucky alchemy if the quaristice set in tourin, in my mind is still at the peak of the experiential journey

lol. It was an interesting night. I still remember the strange tall dude that kept gazing off to the left as he randomly shuffled about, perpendicular to the rest of the crowd. Also the security guards who kept shining their flashlights withing the crowd every half hour or so to check for weed or some crap. Oh yeah, also chenGOD shouting "SEAN PLS". Good times.

I doubt this will ever happen, but I'd be curious to see what they could do now if limiting themselves to a handful of hardware synths and drum machines.

In Stockholm the crew covered the exit signs so the show was really dark.

Yeah but Max/MSP sounds like what they want it to sound. Exai, AE_LIVE, Elseq and NTS share strong sound design similarities because they were made using the same Max environment.

I'd like to hear what their next software sound production environment will sound like ! IIRC they said in an interview that they started to feel their actual system was getting a bit old.
