I've known they were well into Push 2 for ages now, which was fucking annoying because I'm sure they never bothered really 'pushing' the original Push to its limits with updates. Much easier to get everyone to spunk another £450 on a new machine. And I reckon it'll be at least that as I'm pretty sure last time they said they never put a colour LCD display on the original because they'd have to charge an extra £100 as it's such an expensive part.

Be interesting to see what the filters are like, and preserving warping insider the simpler is a much welcomed addition instead of the work-around of bouncing down first.

rumor is $699 or something for push2. that from a guy "in the industry" and rumor of it having built in audio interface which who the fuck needs? idk.. maybe for people who take the push out live?

but the filters.. if they are same as in Cytomic's "the Drop" plug in filter.. well.. those are the best software modeled filters i've heard.. probably best out there. .that guy took like 2 year or something to make that plug in and modeled every detail of all the filter types. so.. if they're those filters then it's a nice gift to Live users.

The Drop is worth the price. great filters + funky as hell and weird modulation possiblities. rivals anything in software imo

there are so many Pushes in the world i hope they make sure it stays compatible with all the coming features for live. would seem a real shaft if they don't. either way.. looks like a nice update for Live.

Intriguing, from the version numbering I'm guessing it's a while off yet (took them about a year to go from 9.1 to 9.2)

EDIT: Waaaaaaaaaaaiiittttt, 9.5 is already here ?! Shit me, just updated to 9.2.3 yesterday and now .... https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/live-9-release-notes/

Push 2 is here too with 30% trade in and your Push 1 donated to charity... https://www.ableton.com/en/push/

Sooo many changes going on in the site this morning - I feel like I've fallen asleep and woken up a year or two later !

EDIT 2: Just bought the Push2 trade in for £399, couldn't resist as I know how long the last ones took to arrive ...

EDIT 3: SOOO much new - http://djtechtools.com/2015/11/02/ableton-push-2/(can you tell I'm a bit excited?!)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

So the Push2 trade is £399, and according to the site the Push2 standard price will be £499.

Might as well sell the Push privately. They'd still get £200 second hand I reckon.

Yeah very possibly, though for me being able to guarantee a price, being able to send it off all fully paid for (after I have the Push 2 in my hands !) and knowing it'll go to a worthwhile place means I'm quite happy to get less for it.

Note the trade-in price also deducts the cost of shipping of Push 2 which is ~£40

so they are not really doing any major updates anymore since a pretty long time while at the same time milking push 1 users? this looks more like minor bugfixing while bitwig seems to take off quite well and everybody I know did switch to bitwig now. The whole discussion does not really bother me as I am using logic for over 10 years now but I am pretty curios about your opinions

Even if you don't get a Push 2 there's still loads of new stuff in 9.5 - https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/live-9-release-notes/

New Push 1 features in the update - https://www.ableton.com/en/help/push1/how-to/article/push1-live95/

Most important for me being:

- It is now possible to load VST and AU plugins. Hotswapping plugins with Push enables browsing the plugin's presets (AU only).

- It is possible to preview sounds from the Push browser.

- Scales settings are now saved in Sets.

How come ? It's a fun little bugger - Laying in bed, headphones on, jamming away, proper relaxing :)

Ah gotcha - as in it's a 'just for Ableton' thing rather than a generic midi controller? Aye can definitely understand that though IIRC it has been ported to other DAWS like Bitwig ( https://www.bitwig.com/en/community/control_scripts/ableton/push/push_1.html) and Reaper ( http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=138969 )

Ohshit, nice! Not going to bother upgrading to the new push though.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Fuck yes. I finally got in the habit of writing in my scales into the Master notes field, but god damn there were more than a few sessions at first where I didn't and then would return only to have a complete mind blank as to scale I was originally in.

I am at least a little bit glad they've updated Push 1 for 9.5. There's definitely features in there that are welcome, most happy about pad duplication actually.

Qutite good! Altough, i stilll prefer controllers like behringer bcr2000, so o can better/more easilly/more flexibly control soft synth in a daw and maxmsp.

Just going through the additions. The Simpler Splice looks great. Been wanting a Recycle style element to Ableton for ages now.

My biggest gripe with the Push is that you can't (to my knowledge) separate the device view and say, the note view. I.e. if I'm looking at a drum rack or keyboard within Note view, then all the device parameters up top are only for that track. It can be annoying when trying to jam, knowing there's an effect I want to alter on track 2, at the same time as playing a synth on track 1. If that device info could somehow be independent to Note view I'd fucking love it.

Haha, I do exactly the same (and ditto with my first few sets where I didn't) :)

EDIT: Any yeah the Simpler changes are ace -

Buying it as soon as I can, it looks damn promising.

It's going to be a great companion to my Roli Rise (should receive it within the next 2 days, yay!).

Good times to make music ITB :)

Also curious about Ableton Link. Always found timecode never fully locked when using MIDI, especially when the tempo was changed. Will be interesting to see how close these manage it.

Yeah that Link thing looks really promising - I could never get midi to sync properly over two laptops, the slave machine would always keep drifting above and below the target BPM as if I had an LFO controlling the tempo !

It's going to be damn useful - if possible - between apps on the same 'puter as well. As a huge Numerology fan, I'd love to see that working in such set-ups (bye bye MTC... please). Already asked Five12's dev Jim if it's doable... *fingers crossed*

Ableton will share the SDK to any devs, so hopefully (if it works as reliably as it seems in those vids) it will soon become a new sync standard.

Not tried it myself as they only inter-program stuff I need is between Max and Live which obviously Max for Live covers, but could you currently sync Numerology and Ableton using OSC ?

Not that I'm aware of. TBH I didn't know it was possible to sync apps this way (though I'm familiar with OSC). I've already tried via ReWire (works but CPU hog), MIDI Clock as well... and MTC is the most reliable of the bunch. Running Num standalone, sync'd to Live, is currently the best combo I've found when it comes to tightness of the sync and overall CPU performances. I'll investigate OSC anyway, thanks for the suggestion!

Yup, I've done that: there's still a small latency (which can be annoying or not, depending on how you combine both apps). MIDI Clock can make it all glitchy easily alas, (especially if, like me, you enjoy using your own custom shuffle patterns, Num can be so deeeep), MTC only synchronises transport, but is much more reliable.

Thanks again anyway ;)
