Meanwhile, back here.

My goodness the usual suspects have been whipping up fear and outrage of and against the blacklivesmatter movement and it's not shocking we got something like this. of course, we don't have all the details on these individuals/events, but am I wrong, if this is what it looks like, to be calling this right-wing extremism?

Yeah, this is all over the news here, BLM has quite an active chapter here in the Twin Cities and it seems their actions have struck up some tensions with local white supremacists and general assholes.

For clarity's sake, it's not a general protest against the police. It's been an active protest into the handling of the Jamar Clark case involving people sitting in and camping out around the 4th precinct... What he was originally being arrested for I'm not sure, and it's become semi-irrelevant. The controversy over the case is that Jamar was shot while being arrested and later died in the hospital. Many say that he was shot while already in handcuffs, posing no threat to the officers. There are a couple witness tapes floating around, but they are pretty poor quality and honestly after personally seeing them personally, it is really hard to tell what exactly went on. The official tapes have not been released, but the FBI has been called in to further investigate the case.

Tensions against the BLM movement here have increased here in recent months as they've been increasingly active since last summer, many criticisms against them seem to be their lack of organization and clear direction within their own movement (the light rail protest, Twin Cities marathon, shutting down I-94, etc) and their supposed willingness to jump onto any cause that they can twist to their agenda, and negative affiliations with the "organization" as a whole.

Personally, while I agree with much of the aims of the BLM cause, their lack of clear organization is apparent and so I remain rather indifferent to their demonstrations... This particular shooting is awful though. The handling of the Jamar Clark has been a little shady, and I can understand why people are getting a little sketchy about it. Why haven't the tapes been released more than a week after the incident, among other details that seem off... This particular incident is not the first attack against BLM related to this specific case. Last week 2 gunmen were arrested at the scene.

This is all happening in the wake of other minor racially driven events and cases of police brutality that have been conviceted that have happened within the Twin Cities throughout the last year as well.... Tensions between people and the police are particularly high here, I'm hoping this doesn't spill over to be another Ferguson.

I'm going to wait until more is known but it's not looking good. I dread that this is going to push the open carry gun debate into even more batshit insane territory. The optimistic part of me hopes this might actually be the breaking point of far right-wing rhetoric being accepted and tolerated (you know, the dipshits who put AR-15 decals on their cars with "COME AND TAKE IT" written below and act like we're living in some oppressive dystopia because Obamacare was passed) but I highly doubt it. Remember for decades this folks were not even considered anything but fringe in the past - McVey came out of this culture, but now the same idiots who subscribe to UN conspiracy theories and peddle copies of The Turner Diaries at gun shows are more empowered than ever. While most of these people have a louder bark than bite it's not at all impossible that the truly violent racists nutjobs are actually acting out, and if there's a time for them to do it why not now. I am truly on edge a little with this shit going on.

Some BLM dude got jumped at a Trump rally, they beat him down and Trump was yelling over the PA "get him the Hell out of here". I bet he'd sponsor Presidential lynchings on the White House lawn.

Positive Metal Attitude

Last night I watched A Time To Kill, and the whole time I was thinking about whether deeply-shitty people should be able to poison the world by passing on their shitty genes.

Although eugenics is creepy as fuck, I decided that civilisation has a right to defend itself against the genes of rapists and murderers.
