One of my favorite memories is sharing this with a couple of new friends some years ago. One of the guys fucked something up and said "whep" just like when John forgets the lyrics at 1:34. To this day, it's an internal meme in our group to indicate any failure with "whep".

Happiness can make you cry. My feelings of that video have evolved a lot of the years. I was never really cynical or flippant about it - I got a genuine well-meaning laugh of it,  thought it was goofy but endearing and was skeptical but not convinced it was drugs. Someone on here, XXX perhaps, made me think of differently after talking about how this video was like watching someone in a moment of enlightenment or even ego death, and coupled it with Aphex Twin's "Rhubarb." The autotune remix and all that stuff just seems kind of dumb in comparison to the actual video and it's context. Vasquez himself elaborated on this in the video below, how it to him was the "Eye of God." Over the years I barely notice the more superficial funny aspects of it and just get lost in this truly intimate moment of someone in an unabashed, cathartic expression of joy and emotional vulnerability. It's a gem of the golden days of youtube and of internet content of this century. Thank you sharing it Paul Vasquez and thank you for your time on Earth.
