The craziest part wasn’t even the slap, it was his cringefest acceptance speech where he proclaimed himself the protector of every woman he knows and then quoted Anthony Quinn in Lawrence of Arabia.

I wonder what percentage of people were like me and had no idea what the joke was in reference to, which made the assault seem even more ludicrous.  Like "damn, he's on a whole other level of not appreciating roasts."  Rock sure did a good job of maintaining his composure.

The 2016 roast is actually pretty funny.

That by itself wouldn't be noteworthy, except then they played La Isla Bonita for a latina actress immediately after (apparently).  Otherwise it would just seem like an awkward coincidence rather than a deliberate, bizarre decision.

Feels weird talking about the oscars...
