autechre live on NTS radio this friday

the stream friday, the nts webpage made after, and that mixcloud all show the same 30.2 mb m4a/mp4 source file named b82b_ef3b_4a35_ba87_3b826bac1d2f. websites and plugins transcoding that to produce a higher bitrate mp3 seems likely

dunno. I don't have magic ears - can't hear the difference between 24bit 48kHz PCM and 320k CBR MP3.

But I do hear when something is 128k or even 64k MP3.

and this is not that.

here's a plot from the 320k rip fwiw.

I don't know much about how to see the original encoding settings from a plot like this.

but there's high frequency things in there which probably would not be present in a 64k thing.

the live stream was very low quality, could clearly hear compression artifacts. can't hear em here.

it's the best we have, folks, and it doesn't sound bad.

a particular bitrate m4a does not have equal quality to an mp3 of that bitrate. m4a generally uses aac compression, a newer and better compression

I really want to record tonights show (+- 7 hours left!) and just save it in 24kbps quality as a punishment for these last few posts.

would you mind uploading the rip w/ the higher bitrate? I'm too stupid to use that command line program

'tis somewhat terribly macabre. Is there a better first 20 minutes of sound to listen to in pitch black? No.
