bbc just jacking my posts from here, years ago. good article though and good outline of what just seems like the obvious conclusion: matter sprouts life which sprays ai out into the galaxy. ufos would be way more likely to be billion year old alien ai with unimaginable minds, than organic. there's no reason to think we shouldn't expect this stuff would be out there. we should. it's just math and common sense. other planets got billion year+ head starts on us. just one billion years advance on us would be more than enough time to populate the galaxy with ai.

i like how this article just goes all out and describes how in a few hundred years humans may transition to a post-darwinian evolution and migrate consciousness to synthetic bodies. and the alien ai could be singular integrated consciousnesses rather than communities of individuals.

Aliens using ai is the same sci-fi trope as aliens using humanoid robots 

not as information dense or rigorous as i'd like at all but interesting nevertheless

The ultraterrestial hypothesis is a very old hypothesis! For example, it’s a known thing to muslims since the beginning of islam that those beings exist as a conscious, free willed, shapeshifting and usually invisible to us and the special subspecies of those beings are what people usually refer to as the devils, which in christianity are usually believed to be fallen angels. Maybe that’s one of the reasons muslims don’t react to ufos like others do and im sure the sightings exist everywhere but tbh I can’t remember ever seeing a ufo video from predominantly muslim countries taken seriously. Muslim would say for those ufos are the devils that are just playing with us, usually non muslims, that believe they could be from other parts of the universe, nothing else. The rationale is that devils want us to believe extraterrestrials are our engineers and gods, not the god. Ppl have  been encountering some funny supernatural beings since the dawn of times; in modern times usually the secret societies are the most organized ones that carry the knowledge how to contact with them - and that’s the belief!
