I think it would be near impossible - the MD and MnM are so old that I expect all the "newer" gear is based on a completely different MCU system. Besides, OS updates for the MD and MnM seem to have been completely abandoned, which is very very very sad. Still, not bad going - I still think Elektron are the kings at OS expansion. that IS very sad. no country for old people? :( but i'm curious now...how they differ, thier sequencers? Guest Chesney
Oh My, if the A4 wasn't bonkers enough. I have just made some insane shit (maybe not even listenable by tomorrow ha) with the new LFO and Trig tricks. I'll try and find time to record something mental asap. I can see how you'd be underwhelmed with only a short time, it can take that long sometimes to start an idea. Once one starts to get rolling you can sit there with your eyes wide. I would literally cum forever if the MD could do what the new sequencers do i.e. micro timing, different pattern lengths and new fill, probability trigs like the rytm but it is rammed full, literally nothing else can be added without crippling it. I did ask Elektron when I first got it if It could be updated with micro timing by pressing trig and left/right but they said it was not possible. Huge shame as the MD is my desert island piece and the rytm did not do it for me. Guest Chesney
I recorded a 10 min jam of it this morning before work and it's not exactly listenable in a traditional sense but I like the sounds so who knows. i'll have a listen tonight and upload. Guest Chesney
haha sorry ;) Anyway. I did this abomination 10 mins before I left for work this morning. Was fun but listenable? maybe not. I really liked it better towards the end. Basically a few trigs with a loose melody then a few more trigs dotted around with low percentage of probability with arp locked. Lfo1 clocked fast to various parameters of osc1 and same with lfo2 to osc two. Performance macro set with one knob controlling all lfo depths at once. https://soundcloud.com/zoomthelineandeye/a4-mess/s-5QV5G Click on Listen on SC^^^ Edited April 5, 2016 by Chesney Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90378-analog-fourkeys-vs-monomachine/page/2/#findComment-2434137 Share on other sites

Guest Chesney
cool, no worries, not sure how well this sold it to you ha. By the way it's only 1 track and only a 16 step sequence. My fave bits are around 4 and 5 mins I think. koolkeyZ865
Beginning of the track really got me into it. Some real Draft/Exai rough cut sounding shit actually. This thing is really a beast that can take many forms. Really great stuff. Thanks for posting! Guest Chesney
yeah I guess, it's quick throwaway shite like this you can easily edit hard and make a track out of. I won't with this. That's the good thing with this box is that you can come up with stuff like this within a few minutes every time you switch it on it's just whether you decide to persist and make it into tracks or not. Hopefully the more I jam with it, the less I need to edit, and therefore can play an entire live set, modifying things on the fly :D Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide modey's signature Hide all signatures youtube | bandcamp | soundcloud | twitter | facebook 0F.digital Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90378-analog-fourkeys-vs-monomachine/page/2/#findComment-2434183 Share on other sites
auxien
Chesney definitely some cool sounds in there man. The more I hear the A4 the more I convince myself that I need one, after I pick up a RYTM of course. sweepstakes
I don't know why, but the RYTM is the one Elektron I'm pretty sure I have no interest in ever owning. It sounds so good to my ears. The bass/hats/snare sounds just appeal to me at a gut level, I guess how some people feel about 909s or 303 bass sounds, just absolutely, instantly drawn to them. The RYTM ain't perfect or anything, and it's definitely not for everyone, but I've determined that I have to own one. The stuff they've added recently and the fact that they still may be updating them drastically soon is just killing me that I don't have one yet. modey
I played the RYTM at my local music store recently, and it was pretty damn deep sounding. Still don't want one, would rather have an A4 or MD, but it does sound pretty nice. Guest Chesney
Same, I own them all but not the rytm. A mate has one so had a quick blast. Sounded good and i'm sure you can take it pretty far. I'm more into non standard drum sounds I guess and the sample manipulation on the rytm is too limited. The MD is for me and there are ways and tricks to overcome the lack on the new sequencer additions. To a degree.
