What's great about this album is anyone who pushes out of left field will go and buy (in the old days) or listen to it. It's like a holy grail of weirdness. In all honestly a part of me is actually a bit disappointed I don't like it.

aye its more like an exercise in rock n roll subversion where the end product is a def case of wtf, but you could say that with other genres. Think of certain lp's by Coltrane, or Sun Ra (thinking Strange Strings here) or maybe even Coil's LSD, which for its time def subverted acid house.

its an experience though & for that in itself i'm grateful, even if there are better (dare i say it) groovier CB tunes to indulge in.

i wouldnt be disappointed in your own reaction, i'm sure part of that 'feeling' is/was purposeful as was the original intention @ provocation.

I don't hint trout was from 69, so considering what was coming out that year

Yeah, i remember even David Lynch, the mainstream manifestation of weirdness, called it his favourite album of all time. That's the tweet, though without the question seen.

As for the thread, i think it's actually cooler to not enjoy that LP, i mean i'm sure Ooze's familiar with odd shit. He's not an ignorant normie that can't grasp shit. Beefheart is long gone to the process of recuperation as situationists called it. Fucking Bono had long discussions with him, granddaddies sweet-talking each other's shit.

I still so hope this really happened:

He was a really important artist, the magic band was skilled beyond the best, and their unrivaled unique aestitic brought new ideas about arrangements in rock music. It's wild to think what it would've been like to drop and see their show, I'm sure it would be the mindfuck soundtrack riding that beam of light straight through electric transportation, melt into vapor, lick my decals off baby, mirror man, doc at the radar station, even the last records weren't bad, testify innovators of the ARTS

I love this album, but that could be partly to do with fond childhood memories of my Dad putting it on and pissing everyone off apart from me and him! :)
