I still haven't bought this because I can't decide between the CD or the digital vinyls.

I did eventually go with vinyl (digitals lol fuck yo wax) and am listening now for the first time in a couple months I think. It's such a good well-textured and well-mixed album. The way he uses reverb and just creating the concept of space within each track to open up ways for certain sounds to shine and hide and carry groove then move off groove, it's all very cold and calculated and delicate, but all ridiculously simple on the surface. Very rewarding to hear again and again, but also works well as background dance tunes. The production quality is really experimental without getting into bullshit 'sound-design' realms that I hate, and I'm just blabbering I know but this is a really good album. The last few tracks don't have the polish of the most, but I think one or two that I have were 'bonus' tracks for buying the digital on Bandcamp anyway.

What a coincidence, was just playing this album a lot lately. Pretty inspiring stuff, as you said very calculated but also seemingly not too complex. The mixing/mastering is outstanding. An underrated gem from last year!

Inspiring and underrated are very good ways to put it! :)

Just the small things being done in some of the tracks, where everything sounds pristine and then suddenly it's set off and collapsed down for ~1 second by some small bit of percussion or something, then quickly expands back into 'normal' mode, just lovely to hear. I've always done small things like that within instruments and parts of tracks but the way he does it so cleverly and masterfully while still seeming jammy with it all, it's just great. I'm not much of a headphones listener these days, but I bet it'd be great for that.

at moments sounds like basic channel / maurizio could sound in 2017

edit: i just wonder what this illustration has to do with the music?!
