Listened to this now a few times out of which I've fallen asleep maybe three or four times. It's great and has some of the feel of a spatial depth that UFOrb has also but with some more modern beats, etc.

Yes, maybe best since Orblivion.

??? moonbuilding was much better than this

listened this weekend.

I liked it for sure. But it definitely felt like it was missing something, not sure what. I'd have to agree with those saying it was pretty without necessarily standing out in any way.

Def going to give it some more spins and listen deeper. In any case, I'm perfectly cool with having another pretty ambient record to chill my zone with.

cydonia isn't bad u guys

Got me through an entire late night last-tube missing experience it did ....

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

The early/promo/demo 2xCD version of Cydonia is great ....

shit, didn't even know about that. Alt version of Lump of Lard is way better

Listnin' to COW for first time this aft

Yeah definitely a superior version of the album IMO - Better mixes, more space for tracks to grow, less silly-ness and more epic-ness. Weird how it changed so much in the final version

Listening to a bunch of older stuff here this afternoon, skipped through Cydonia, so bad, must check out that alt. version though - hadn't heard of it. Bikes & Trikes was an improvement, mostly pretty good. Okie Dokie is really great, though it's basically just a Fehlmann album (which is no bad thing).

Do it - Will definitely make you rethink it (well, more likely confuse you as to why we ended up with the version we did !)

Yes totally agree with this - I heard the promo and was so stoked to buy it and then when I got the album I went..."huh?"

Anyways - still loving me some COW!

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

Yeah that 1999 version was almost a cross between Adventures and Terrarum, I wish it'd been released like that - although I do prefer the version of Lard on the final album. Of course most of the other stuff ended up on Orbsessions 2.

Bicycles and Tricycles is another tedious one - the UK and Japanese versions have radically different mixes and the best version is to be made by combining them. Still, always felt it lost something by scrapping the segues between tracks.

Something else I like about this album is it's really helping to recapture a sense of identity for The Orb again. For quite a few years it was incredibly confusing, especially releasing stuff like Okie Dokie next to The Dream, on which they sound like totally unrelated albums. In hindsight, it seems a lot more like you can remove the two Youth-led albums and it all makes more sense, each record seems more like a development of the previous. Bicycles & Tricycles -> Okie Dokie -> Baghdad Batteries -> Moonbuilding -> COW actually sounds like a run of albums by the same band.

Just biked in to say that Fehlmann's solo albums are great (Honigpumpe is a particular favorite, lush AF)

TBH I haven't heard COW and might not get around to it for a while, there's just too much good music (and good Orb music) out there to be listening to instead.  My fwp with the Orb is that they've put out sooo much material over the years - ranging from great to meh to ugh - that why even bother with the lesser stuff.  Like when MT posted all those bootlegs/soundboards (can't remember pacifics) of early Orb shows ppl were first like "ooooh" and "(·) -> (o)" then after listening to a couple you realize they're all pretty much the same variations (or lack thereof) of the studio/album tracks, the only real difference being how autistically Alex would smash that like button [to trigger the vocal samples]

lol wtf is that about

edit: oh i see its from portland the worst place in the developed world
