The general lack of intelligence I encounter on a daily basis. At least in the USA, people in generally are really, really dumb. It's ironic to hear people bitch about Spanish or other languages flourishing in the populace in a 'speak english or GET OUT' style when most USA english speakers still can't grasp the written use of 'there, they're and their' or the 'your, you're' conundrum. And that's just the tip o' the iceberg.

Sometimes I need to go 2.5 hours in one direction by car to make it to a facility I work at because it's big contract $ for me. This would take over 5 hours with public transportation and even more than that by walking because of where I am geographically. Pretty much makes a car a necessity aside from the fact that public transportation here is incredibly inefficient. 

So I say to you, comfy urban European with readily accessible and efficient public transportation inside of your tiny country  - fuck YOU for your cloistered view of how other people should conduct their transportation in a sweeping sense. Unless you walk, bike, or unicycle everywhere, you probably get your ass transported around, even if it's all taught, malleable and German. Not to mention all those goods that you walk to get being brought by big loud noisy trucks and such.

I read your complaint as bizarre as someone complaining about horse-drawn carriages.

"why in my day a good pair of boots would transport you to anywhere in the local tri-city area"

"but what do they use suspenders for?!"

I agree with phlingy but my politics are different. I have grown to really hate cars - especially big SUVs - transporting single people at a time in the mornings/evenings, taking up the road/parking space. if you're on 4 wheels, it should be mandatory to carpool during peak traffic hours to make it worth the cost to everyone else and reduce the congestion, at least in metropolitan areas.

also drivers exist in their own (steel) bubbles and aren't as aware of their surroundings because of their chosen mode of transport, but that's a different can of worms.

I feel this a lot.The Twin Cities have had quite an increase in population in the last few years, especially a rise in Somalian refugees, 90% of those women absolutely DO NOT belong on the road, I've gotten damn near killed many times myself. How they got a license I'll never understand. (Though I hear many drive around here without licenses, which is even fucking worse)
