Drukqs - Parental Advisory Warning

Recommended Posts

I've done some googling (and searched this forum before posting this), but it all seems rather inconclusive. I simply can't believe it could be because of the "Aphex Acid" sample... there are plenty of albums with stronger language that do not have a parental advisory sticker.

I've always wondered if it was because of whatever is happening during "Gwarek2" ... sounds kinda "rape-y"...

Or could it just be RDJ taking a piss on this one....

The 'C' bomb *is* pretty strong - Think it's a label decision rather than a legal thing nowadays to have that sticker

lol can you request a parental advisory warning on purpose to be edgy

Aye I think you can - Like I say I *don't think* it's a legal requirement

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Yes... the stickers I know are voluntary. It just seems excessive to me to slap it on there for one "C bomb".... perhaps it was an attempt to be edgy?? Seems silly to me.

No, that's actually RDJ getting raped.

Warp was just pre-empting the legion of pre-teen fans running around yelling "come on you cunt, let's have some aphex acid!" and the appalled parental reaction.
Stay safe fam.

Yeah, there's nothing legal about it, which is why most metal and punk (+ subgenre) albums never have them - they're only usually in place when an album is considered likely to have enough mainstream appeal to be bought regularly by kids.

Kids?

Oh, right, because MTV.

But I think you nailed it... I had not thought of it that way.

lol I saw the new Blink 182 album in HMV the other week. The sticker-to-artwork ratio was ridiculous. The fact that it's completely optional makes the situation even more tragic.

The 90's was all about that sticker man, if an album didn't have it I wouldn't buy it.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

"Cunt" is a way worse swear word in the US, as far as I know in the UK it's relatively mild and casual.  But in the US it's viewed as "you're going to hell" level

Far from it mate - it's probably our most powerful swear word too. It's a beautiful word.

Yeah cunt has got to be the strongest swear word in the US. Plenty of movies and TV shows throw fuck around left and right but wouldn't dare use the word cunt. Weird, I can't think of another word that taboo here. Cocksucker is like halfway between fuck and cunt, but you're still way more likely to hear it.

Wasn't the parental advisory sticker a nancy reagan invention? or is that an urban legend? definitely a badge of honour for rap albums of that era but weird that it was/is optional

it was tipper gore - thanks google x
