Made this when I was 15 when I first discovered Ableton. I was big into the Lapalux/Brainfeeder stuff back then. It's well cringy but I'm proud of it

Tbh it's not that bad. Could totally see it being funky Mii menu music or something.

Took a listen to a good chunk of this thread, nice shit demos guys! A lot of them aren't that bad, but obviously we've all gotten better over the years.

Took the time to upload some more of my garbage, most have mixing issues:

Neat complextro house thingy https://clyp.it/sja5afqb

The Internet died https://clyp.it/lrldgex4

Some electro rock and roll thing https://clyp.it/2dn2gjur

Me trying to be a dubstep god https://clyp.it/obpatyh2

Some funky vinyl resampling. The end is really fun to listen to, so weird https://clyp.it/rv3weuqs

A jazz dubstep thing https://clyp.it/ptp1bycv

Made a battle theme for a Bionicle RPG fan game, but it never happened :C https://clyp.it/b33dn1ov

^ same, but GBA version https://clyp.it/w3rngdcx

Rick Astley pls forgive me https://clyp.it/l55wiet2

Desperately want to finish this, but like a lot of other projects, this one died during a computer crash. RIP https://clyp.it/uutkezdj

some great stuff in this thread, here are a few of mine that I keep online and listen to sometimes, but never finish because I don't know what to do with them..

acoustic chord progression that never went anywhere but I kinda like it so maybe I'll use it sometime if I stop being a lazy fuck

I've got 20–30 demos like this of me just multitracking acoustic guitar.. if I wasn't so pedantic about audio quality I'd just get someone to sing on them and release the best ones as a lofi indie acoustic album or something lol

looping ambience with some noodly electric piano, I think this was all from a yamaha portasound or something

I think I ended up using that melody in a crappy trance track, haha

speaking of crappy trance

a remix of a friend/collaborator's acoustic song as 100% trance mega classixxx

the ending melody of parhelic triangle as played by sloppy post-rock band

that's gotta be at least 10 years old by now, fuck.. I was totally obsessed with that melody

cars dont stop

a song I wrote when I was 4 and tried to recreate as stupid punk shit a few years ago

These "shitty demos" sound better than my finished tracks lol good stuff

lol

I made this somewhere in 2010 or 2011 when I was just starting making electronic music. Mixing is terrible and so is the actual musical content. But I like it for that. It's kinda stupid and relentless in its shittyness.

initial loop could easily fit as an adult swim bumper

  • 2 weeks later...

not really shitty just incomplete/drums are just a loop/completely shitty and unfinished/don't know how to make it work for 12 minutes

Fucking with an Electron Analog 4 for the first time and came up with this. I didn't even know how to save the kit.

I love it, and i'll never be able to finish it.

Man from muffwiggler forum requested a demo of 'BBD + Bode freqshifter in feedback path' patch i made for Axoloti. I tweak parameters and some paremeters are automated.

Its shitty. I like it.

This is a pretty shit track that I wrote in 2007:

[sc5]5348621[/sc5]

And then I sent it to Jason Forrest of Cock Rock Disco, and he said it was shit.  And then I was like, "Naw, man- you don't understand the sloppy drum aesthetic I'm going for.", and it was really retarded.  And then I made the following TIME Magazine cover and posted it on the Planet Mu Phorum, and then Jason Forrest came around to defend himself.  And then we made up and internet kissed (no homo, though).:

mu_time.jpg

And then I became so retarded that all of a sudden my music finally crystallized, and then everything I wrote after that era became good.

We must all thank our own shittiness, for without it, none of us would ever reach lazer expression level.
