Re: 2016 convo in this thread

All the kinds of house music (with all possible accompanying aesthetics), are always been made simultaneously everywhere and always will be forever

i know there's got to be something better than this emptiness inside fill it all with lies i know that innocence will never be regained take away the pain and nothing else remains

Mark as best answer imo

House music does't need any new spins or gimmicks to thrive. Of course its fun to sit back and watch and enjoy the latest manifestations and microgenres emerge, but yeah agreed. House is house baby.

Curious, what/when was the first time you heard/experienced house music or really grasped/felt it ? Tell me about it.

Of course wed all heard it growing up mostly in the 80s/90s without necessarily being aware of what it was or remembered. I think my first time it really sunk in was sophomore year high school in some drug dealer / hardcore raver kid's car (we had all been going to warehouse and desert raves around the time, but i never touched the drugs, just pot).. He was giving me a ride to my friends and I remember him playing a mix of what i can only remember as this real funky house / jungle combo, which is even strange to this day in my mind.. I dont know like juke maybe.. And had a real hard house kind of vibe in the vocal samples and stuff. Just real jumpy. But it had sunken in (with the help of his baller car stereo system) just how sick this music was and knew i had to hear more. Add that to the acid lounge / hotel costes comps id been inhaling, and those were the seeds for the groundwork of my venture into house and other related dance genres.

depends, if boring & forgettable within a few years are the new benchmark, this thread's stack of shit is leading the way

if you enjoy contributing to that, buy the actual records listed here with the caveat to set yourself a reminder in a few years about re-listening, then see how much of that hard earned cash you'd prefer to have spent on summat else or the pittance you'd get from trying to palm them off 2nd-hand on Discogs etc

that would distinguish you from appearing like a poseur talking bollix, because you'd be representing what you actually believe in in terms of aesthetic

chuckle vision, come come Mr Spiral, we both know that would never happen

after Egyptian Basses & The Snow, they did their bit for House, plus letting Derek Jarman produce a House video in the early 90's must have been a labour of love in & of itself (personally i never tire of the woman's slowed down movements & that gaze in the Egyptian Basses vid)

somewhere there's a quality version of this vid, but for now

i like house music w/ good sample of 90s rnb singer and nice fuzz/beats dusty chords and good tape saturation sound over da mix! music that is equally at home in the club as it is on your headphones on the night bus home on the come down.

i like to filter my sound down to about 6/7khz on the master and i like a hi hat on every single offbeat!!!

i like gear and synth and also stranger things too!!!

hi foil.

ps. has anyone seen the show game of thrones? also cats? i like cats, carl sagan, modular synth!!!

also i'm a millennial, and i like tatoos of my star sign on my cock and i scroll memes and subscribe to a contradictory pastoral/wanderlust haze world view that is actually fueled by narcissism and nihilism and vague centrist liberal platitudes.

i have a vague awareness of my place in late-era capitalism but really i just wanna post photos of my plants and records and take blurry IG story vids of shows i go to and caption them "yooooooo!!! belfast!!!!"

and yeah, i didn't vote for trump, and i'm pretty fuckin happy that roy moore lost and am glad we have some1 like doug jones for alabama (even though i live in ottawa!!)

Yeah at this point im pretty much tired of labels and categories and micro this, post-that, retro this, next level future that. I mean fuck me, does it get tiring. Just get lost and/or dance to good music and share it away. Thats it. Fuck all the pretenses.

Ps i say this now, 99% chance this next week ill be posting about genres, trends, labels etc.

so you may as well not have made that post, then?
