I think many people on both sides are drifting more and more towards extreme identity politics as an over-compensation for each other...so it's this self-perpetuating loop of tribal idiocy that nobody realizes they're participating in

And if you wanna open your mouth, you first have to pledge allegiance to one tribe or the other, or else people will assume you're part of the *other* tribe (and this results in the pathological virtue-signaling you see everywhere)

And people only read news created by members of their own tribe ("CAN I believe this?"), and any news from the *other* tribe is immediately suspect ("MUST I believe this?")
