So this is how the festival was promoted

Fyre Festival is a cultural moment created from a blend of music, art, and food. Experience a journey in the Exumas from April 28 – 30 and May 5 – 7, 2017.

You'll be flown roundtrip on a custom, VIP configured Boeing 737 aircraft between Miami International Airport and Exuma International Airport on Great Exuma. Guests will be staying in modern, eco-friendly, geodesic domes. Additional housing and events are available for purchase across nearby islands and private cays.

The main festival living and stage area is at Rokers Point on Great Exuma, with main day parties taking part on the private and secluded Coco Plum Beach.

Blink-182 have cancelled their headline appearance at the event organized by rapper Ja Rule and promoted by Kendall Jenner.

A luxury festival on a private island in the Bahamas, organised by Ja Rule and due to feature appearances by Blink-182, Skepta, Rae Sremmurd and more, has descended into chaos after fans turned to a half-finished site that’s been likened to a disaster zone.

Fyre Festival, due to take place this weekend, had been advertised on social media as a hyper-glamorous getaway, promoted by supermodels including Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid who promised a beach paradise setting. Tickets to the event ranged from $4000 to $12,000.

Instead of a beach paradise, fans were subject to reported nine-hour delays getting on to the island, eventually making it the Exumas destination to what has been angrily likened to a “refugee camp”, with attendees taking to Reddit and other social media to complain of half-built tents, mountains of rubbish and sub-standard meals served in polystyrene containers.

 sad thing is it's probably not over-privileged people but people who save on for 2 years to be able to afford this shit so they can one time in their life feel a breeze of richness to please their flawed ego and then get screwed. still funny though

And from the look of it, marketed almost exclusively via Instagram and social media "tastemakers"

yeah boo hoo for the privileged white hipsters who listened to Kendall Jenner (the Pepsi savior) and spent that much to think they were better than the rest of us.  Try traveling in the 3rd world, it's not much better.
