I don't have a photo but the last time I was in China a couple of weeks ago I saw some Chinese middle-aged uncle-type guy wearing a hot pink t-shirt that had a glittery head of Skeletor and the text "HATES THE WORLD". I think about that t-shirt occasionally.

A long time ago in China also, I saw some lady wearing a t-shirt that said "Every time I think of you I wash my ass". Brilliant.

Sadly nowadays the nonsense Chinese t-shirts seem to be actually mostly just jumbled up letters. Like literally just latin letters in a random order or sometimes just listed alphabetically. Sometimes you can see there was some original text maybe but there are so many errors that you can't even make out the words anymore. I guess this is just the Chinese version of western t-shirts having just random Chinese characters.

What is china like ? it seems to have some really beautiful nature i would like to travel to.

Do you speak mandarin ? i was wondering how easy it is to navigate without speaking the language since i have heard english isnt really understood there.

There are amazing places to visit and nature to see. Some have almost zero foreign tourists, although Chinese domestic tourism has exploded in recent years so the tourist hot spots can get super crowded with Chinese tourists.

But for example this is from Mangshan mountain near Chenzhou from my last visit. No foreign tourists and only a few Chinese tourists. Just walking the trails on the mountainside for a few kilometers.

I don't speak Mandarin but my girlfriend is Chinese and speaks Mandarin and Cantonese so whenever I'm with her things go more or less smoothly. The English skills in China really took a nose dive during the pandemic but you can manage in bigger cities. One big hurdle are the payment systems, AliPay and WeChat, which are almost mandatory to get things paid or even to order food in a restaurant. Thank god Alipay now has at least a translation button to translate the restaurant menus and public transport miniapps. Then there's the Great Firewall but you just need an e-sim from abroad or a VPN.

Last month I was working with this crusty 70something guy who was running graders, excavators etc, I'd have to pop out and shoot the shit with him every couple of days while he had a ciggy break. One day he swings open the cabin door, dart already between his lips, says something like "what's up skipper" wearing a black tshirt with huge white letters saying WHO ATE ALL THE PUSSY

Couldn't keep a straight face, just glad my female cross-shift wasn't the one to see it lol
