Seems like c-nolo was trying to focus on a small number of individual stories/experience, and not see how many planes and boats he could fit on screen at once. Showed restraint imo, unlike flahblub

it's pretty damn hard to shoot down a plane TBH especially one that's at an angle and coming in fast - that's why modern guns on fighter planes have such high rates of fire (like 2400 rpm for example) - when a plane is flying at a few hundred miles per hour a second equates to hundreds of feet traveled

flak wasn't shot out at that rapid of a rate - in fact the slow rate of fire was made up by the fact that flak cannon shells were fairly large (40mm or 88mm were common) compared to say, a .50 cal machine gun. one hit out of many could do some damage.

kamikaze attacks are a good example of how even dense AA fire from multiple guns on multiple ships could still be averted - that's why missiles and faster guns with advanced tracking were developed after WWII

it was a good question, after all planes have been shot down that way in war. the Battle_of_Mogadisha is a good example - those two helos were shot down by unguided RPGs shot by Somali civilian fighters/militia.

this shit is so lol:

https://thebaffler.com/the-immediate-experience/tory-porn

fantasy prelude.

we then have a ridiculous brief on nolan's interest in internal logic (very bad). in film, as we all know via the anti-tradition of rossellini via goddard, chance (which i guess is the same as anarchy?) is about voices. of people. of *the* people. on the other hand, nolan is a fucking tory.

some of the characters in nolan's films represent the director himself. this is literally doubly true in the film "the prestige." you know that movie "the prestige"? the one about the magicians? NO! the hobbesian film about the "dueling materialist wizzards." that one.

speaking of the people, in nolan's films they aren't even real. they are figments of his imagination, only weaponized in a kind of anglicized Burkean itch-scratching.

the people are consecutively denigrated in his batman ...quartet.

christopher nolan is rich. therefore, in his movies wealth is autobiographical. this explains the exploration of space (accessible only to the rich) in the film "interstellar," the fourth and final of the batman films in which technocrats (extremely bad) go to space. but you see the film is about a father and daughter which is thatcherite propaganda.

hollywood is an industry where investors care about profit. this is horrible. nolan makes films for hollywood, not against hollywood. do i have to spell out what this means?

nolan has an audio visual style. this serves no artistic purpose. indeed, nolan is an anti-artist. an hobbesian. the audio element in particular is marinetti-like and pendereckian.

i haven't seen dunkirk yet so i didn't read the rest lol

This "article" is the biggest brain fart i´ve read in a while. Nowadays everything must be turned into something ridiculous.

Like the compelling and now written into history tale of a young boy who falls down some stairs on a small boat, cracks his head open and silently dies. Up there with the all time great war stories. And the other tale of a young soldier who couldn't take a shit, and another of a shit young singer who played the role of the only solider permitted to speak because its director knew it'd gain the film more publicity. Not sure why i sound so angry here. I'm not really.

Yeah you're right, I'd prefer another 500 films about how american paratroopers saved europe while being absolutely irresistible to all the sexy french ladies and handing out unlimited supplies of chocolate to grubby faced children.

"Bloody ell lads, the yanks have only gorn an dun it!!!" *british tommies cheer at their only line*

lol

still haven't seen it BUT:

out of curiosity, watched BLACK HAWK DOWN by brilliant director Ridley Sir Scott, and I can't believe how bad that was. So many hilariously terrible things, it's almost like they had a competition for how much heroism for idiots can be stuffed into a film and they didn't stop when they won all of the awards. This has to be a standout example of how to make yourself look like a 100% asshole as a director. Congs, Sir Ridly, congs. Dunno even...

edit: Watched it as a warmup, thought these films are somewhat related i.e. there's a military evacuation, both competent on technical level etc..

nah man it's a really stupid shit.

basically Scott grabbing you by the throat and yelling "we leave nobody behind" into your ear at 120db for 2 and a half hours. The entire movie is literally just very badly acted naive, and good, and honorable US soldier boys popping 1-dimensional "bad!" black people off rooftops. The black people are also MUSLIMS. And I think one of them is a rapper, Ice Cube or something, great acting.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
