So whats the status on this comp?

I'm rewiring my studio over here so gauging what the time frame is.

I have to admit, after hunting for samples I haven't done a thing because I just started a duo with a friend of mine and all of my music energy has gone in to practicing and writing so we can start doing live sets in a couple months.

i say everyone uses the same samples. no synths. and make the tracks shorter so lots of people can participate...

same sample is a grand idea. 808 cowbell.

808 cowbell, Emulator-II shakuhachi, and orch5.

EDIT: but with the mandate to transform them into something with some legitimate emotional weight to it, not just joke tracks full of orchestra hits.

I might be able to get a submission in on time. Sounds like fun.

How are we gonna decide on the samples we all have to use? Group submission and vote?

Oh hell yeah. Now this I can get behind.

If someone can cull these samples into a ZIP for people like me who are too stupid/lazy to do so (I'm sure I'm not the only one) that would be cool and I'm sure it would lower the barrier to entry.

I'm one of those people.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
