of course. I was imagining more a “post is much better than homogenic” kerfuffle

Apples and oranges imo.

I love how the album sounds.  The flute theme is a lot more interesting than the strings from last time, since that hasn't been done to death yet.  I wish I was a little more clear on what the rhythm/melody is for a lot of the songs... like, I definitely "lost the one" on at least 75%.  I'm not convinced Arca knew where it was either.  But on the 25% I did follow it was sublime.  Hopefully the rest reveals itself to me on successive listens.  Loss and Courtship are a fucking power combo that put me in that rare euphoric state where I realize just how good something is.  Hearing The Gate with good quality headphones really helped put that one into perspective.  There is a lot more emotion in her delivery than I had noticed while listening casually that made the flatness of the melody become quite affecting.  The lushness throughout is great.

It sounds like fairies, elves, and talking animals having a tea party in the forest.

lol I had it on at work today and my coworker said “this sounds like what would happen if a satyr got really high and had a jam session in a meadow of exotic fauna”

This is much better than Vulnicura, but she is never likely to surpass Vespertine. Biophilia was the best this side of that album.

It's a good album, the electronics seem pushed to the background which has both good and bad points depending on the track.

Bjork ain't ever gonna change up the vocal style so it's really whether you can dig the backing. As has been said it does sound lush and I think I will revisit it a few times, there's little to grab on to....but peak Bjork has long past so I doubt she's gonna reinvent the wheel.

I finally gave this a proper listen and I like it, my favourite among her later releases, at least for now.

Edited by Gocab

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I like the palate overall, but I'm kind of struggling to get into it.  It's not pop music - that's for sure.  My wife heard "Features Creatures" and she said "I guess she doesn't need to make any more money."  Although I think she'll do fine.  But I'll give the album a chance to sink in.

Also find it overly long and a bit of a struggle.

But I love her vocals and instrumentation is interesting. I like the comparison to a mad hatters tea party with all the little weird noises playing around Bjork's vocals.

Bjork would be Alice maybe...

I've been listening to this a lot this week, and overall I like it.  But mostly it does feel like spoken word poetry (which is, admittedly delivered in a singing voice) set to music.  Hardly any "songs" in the sense of her first half dozen albums.

Side note - it really sounds like, in Future Forever, she's saying "hold farts for love forever"

This is what I heard too, but I believe it was singular.  Just one fart, forever held for love.  I was touched.

I've still only listened the one time.  Told my friend whose a huge Bjorkhead that I would listen with her while it's still new to me.

I have a so nice feeling with the track « loss », its like i already knew this track when i first heard it. Funny.

Not déjà vu, but déjà entendu

Seriously though. I love Arca's production and his last album was kind of a let down for me. I'm just not a fan of his voice.

His production on this album is amazing but man, this has to be the worst I have ever heard Bjork. It's so boring and sounds like she's just talking in melody.

For real. An instrumental of this album would be so sweet.
