I'd say the filter is what really makes something samey. And it's so easy to get a few different filters, exponentially increasing your sound palate.

Yep.  I have a whole row of filters, so it sounds like I have a whole room of synths when I really don't, just one synth with lots of different filters to choose from.

My eurorack actually has no filters and I don't miss them either... I guess I'm west coast style.

I do want a Belgrad however

Yeah if you're additive you have a bigger sound palate than classic subtractive. Probably a good practice to forgo filters sometimes

Or use your filter as a sine wave osc =)

The Bastl Cinnamon was designed with this in mind, I believe.

It all depends on what you want the synth to do. The first thing I did was make a mono synth voice with a filter, osc, few env/lfo, made my own case and power board. It was not close to 1k$. But as ive expanded its now reached like 3 or 4k =)

Also Getting expert sleepers es3 has completely been a game changer for how I make music. No MORE FUCKING MIDI SYNC. I got a midi3 from pittsburgh but barely use it now
