its true but acting like it's a surprise is a big downplay of the harsh truth that capitalism is fascism and fascists are a lot more widespread than you'd otherwise believe.  it's just that now that they have achieved world domination to such a degree, the explicit symbolism and some of the specific tactics, are not currently needed.  when push comes to shove geopolitically or economically, the truth would become clear to even those who were in the dark on this fact in the the decades after WWII

this is an excellent recap of capitalism in america using the coal industry and the "company store" as the jumping off place for the cruelty of it.
