was that ever released? i wasnt around then.. but my understanding of the watmm lore is that the comp was deep sea creatures instead because reasons

Oh yeah, DSC won that tournamoent, but the support for beardstep was so strong that another watmm comp was put together concurrently that same year.  Sadly all download links to it seem to have disappeared.  But here is some evidence to support that it actually happened: http://koanotic.blogspot.com/2008/02/beardstep.html

It's kind of funny that I had a track on the DSC comp but they didn't accept my track for the beardstep one.

Did you mean the other way around?  The blog poster was praising your beardstep track as one of the standouts of the comp.

i didn't get on dsc because it was a remix of a track that i wrote before dsc. never comped again NEVER AGAIN

that reminds me, Marie Toussaint should do a wax museum exhibition of all the IDM greats. Squarepusher made of wax, that would be pretty IDM
