2018 : ae live dates

... After the announcement of Tokyo and Melburne, Sydney, Hobart, and Dublin have grown.

I think that in the days to come new dates will be announced, it seems to me so useful to dedicate a post to the events that, with a little 'luck, will temp 2018.

At the moment:

13 Jun 2018 / - Tokyo 13 Jun 2018 / - Hobart (the same date of Tokyo? Roberto Rossellini and Samuele Bersani have conquered the power of ubiquity?)

20 Jun 2018 / - Sydney 21 Jun 2018 / - Melburne

22 Jun 2018 / - Hobart second round (...mhhh...)

15 july 2018 / - Dublin

At the moment it seems to me that the only live designated for a theater, is that of Dublin: for other occasions there are clubs, and in the worst case, inside festivals.

This thing discourages me. Onesix tour was hosted entirely within theaters, except the Italian date, God damned. A fucking festival (Club To Club). The experience was frustrating. Totally inadequate system, and the place was shittingly inappropriate, among hundreds of noisy and harassing teenagers calling for techno . Same thing in Katowice: a poor shed with farting system. Only the Krakow date, although in a festival, was memorable, but that was the Sacrum And Profanum, and it was the twenty-fifth anniversary of Warp: different story. In any case: my balls are full about these situations. I would like to avoid these big circus of stupidity (extremely expensive), and listen to Autechre in a dignified place. Only autechre. Do not want to endure 1000 club dick heads dj for just one hour of pleasure.

Autechre: leave behind these idiocratic festivals and come (in theater) even in Italy, please. You still have to compensate me for the bad experience of Club To Club.

Forgive this controversy, but I have already invested enough money and energy in these situations, to tolerate a recidivism. Especially now that the decisive step has been taken from the club to the theater: it is contradictory to go back.

I believe I have written with full knowledge of the facts. I am not necessarily a theater person, on the contrary, in the past years I have followed with pleasure reve and teknival, adapting myself to what the context represented. In the case of Club To Club, it was different. There were dozens of teenagers chanting "Roman" choirs to stop Autechre playing. "You broke my cock" they sang. For much of the first 20 minutes of the live. Onesix was not a set designed to twerking, but, on the contrary, it was a meditative composition, designed for a theatrical situation (this is proved by the fact that it was only played in theaters). Choruses of children screaming in the Roman dialect were not exactly the ideal condition for enjoying Onesix, especially considering what I paid for. The same for the system: both in the case of the C2C and katowice, the sound came badly and strictly frontal. To read the experiences of those who listened to that live in the theater, the result was far from what I heard. If I want sink in kethamine and mud for days, I go to a teknival and do not think about it anymore (it's good for me... and K it's so good in teather, too...), but if I have to take a plane to hear autechre, I would like a context that legitimizes my effort and the money I invest. And legitimized autechre, first of all. It is not a question of age, it's a question of relativism. And yes, if i don't like festivals i can stay at home, but in this way i will miss autechre, so, personally, i hope for dates with AE alone, not diluted among hundreds of musicians who have nothing in common with them (in music and intentions)

being a bit pedantic here but not all onesix dates were seated venues, the manchester one wasnt.

and yeah thats fair enough about the people shouting. i got the impression from ur op that you just added the fact that they were "calling for techno" purely to exaggerate ur point. if they were saying stuff like that, i do understand it would get annoying, mb

are u planning on flying out to any of the 2018 dates? almost certain they wont be doing anymore than what already has been announced

... ok, I don't think that people were protesting to call for techno, specifically, more than anything else they wanted something, generically, to be able to dance and complete all the natural praxis necessary for life in that phase of inflation that is adolescence : having fun saturating easily the senses and carrying out the first necessity of every young organism: basic seduction and sexual movement. Now, it's good that I say that I do not find anything wrong with that, it's the game of life, I just would not want to put an AE live inside that game. I say it for the benefit of us, as i say it for the benefit of the game.

... having come out particularly frustrated, I can not hold back a certain polemic emphasis in telling that day.

This is my distress regarding the festivals.

As for the live in the clubs: Untilted and Quaristice set were perfect for such places: I will never forget the sensory cataclysm that accompanied me after having seen them on those occasions, in Turin. The new material, however, I think is definitely enhanced in a auditorium, not in a club. But, ok, I would still be fine, as long as it is not a festival.

Then, sad to admit it, but also the age factor I fear that play its role: today I'm forty years old, I feel stronger and stronger the need for a situation that allows concentration and full immersion, instead of a funny but mundane ones. So, yes: I'm getting old. :(

At the moment I'm meditating on the Dublin date, but July it's high season, the plane would cost me the corneas and a kidney. That's why I raise my pathetic request: other dates, closer to Italy, and that do justice to what the autechre are in 2018.

(forgive my insistence, but if I had to face another 15 hours of this, I think I could get out of it dead. Roberto, please).
