anouar brahem - the astounding eyes of rita/barzakh

thank you for including - bizarre synchronicity is i've heard this lp, specifically the track "Stopover at Djibouti", in clinical settings to assist folks with war trauma & in palliative care settings through Guided Imagery & Music sessions, words like sublime or subtle dont really do it justice

listening to my own copy through your prompt, its been a while

yay, lists. might as well make a 'ten desert island albums' thread, and be done with it. seriously, who's tastes are never fluid and changing. One, single favorite album, of all time? give me a break

edit: Drukqs. wait, no, it's Rushup Edge. It's fucking futile. I don't want to listen to either of those albums all the fucking time. Let us rejoice, for there's variety.

all warp/planet mu lol :p

aphex twin - drukqs

autechre - untilted

venetian snares - songs about my cats

datach'i - mmale and ffemale

frog pocket - gonglot

early-mid 2000s were pretty ftw as far as electronic music goes. also a very impressionable time for me (mid-teens) so of course these particular albums have sentimental value in the sense that I'd never heard anything like this before

under a very specific mood this album hits the spot rlly rlly nicely

my top in general is still def something by zoviet france tho.. keeps shifting between shouting at the ground, loh land, assault & mirage etc etc

Somerset Avenue Tracks was what really got me hooked on µ-Ziq. After that, I couldn't get into the rest of his catalog fast enough.

Yes.

LP5 is IDM that I would use to communicate with extraterrestrials to demonstrate that humans can also be extreme.

MF DOOM - MM.. Food

Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Piñata

This is hard:

Arthur Russell - World of Echo

Arthur Russell - Love is Overtaking Me

Druqks

ICYBD

opn - Replica, Rifts

Bogdan - Samurai Math Beats

Automatic Tasty - Tweeter's Midlife Crisis

Owen Gilbride - Trax III

Nasenbluten - You're Going to Die

Edit: I talked with my wife about this, and it's interesting, because you have to be pretty pragmatic to even begin to put together a list like this, because it is so conditional. There are albums that I have heard countless times, but I dont ever really listen to on my own, and therefore didnt make my list. Comedy music, like Flight of the Conchords or Weird Al fits this bill, as well as a lot of rock/indie stuff I grew up with. I would also have a different list for stuff that is the most fun to dance to.

I like Mu-ziq btw. He was an IDM prodigy and still makes lush tracks like Mountain Island Boner. His skills and artistic pedigree are incendiary.

i don't understand not liking µ-ziq. tango n vectif and lunatic harness were formative for me when i first started listening to electronic music. he has an ear for melody that very few of these artists possess and his music is also kind of funny. probably the closest to aphex in that regard.

Ya agree with you guys, all depends on my mood / phases. Lately a few of my favs have been:

Ninety - 808 State

Never Let Me Down - Bowie

Black Tie, White Noise - Bowie

Blade Runner OST

Hackers OST

The Game OST

Ocean Drive - Hori Katsumi Band

Call of The Wild - Victor Feldman's Generation Band

SOSW - Polygon Window

After The Playboy Mansion - Dimitri From Paris

Anthology - Underworld

SAW II & ICBYD is hard to not add to the list for me as well because they are eternal haha
