Sometimes I buy food for poor people hanging around outside grocery stores or what have you.

If they say they’re hungry, that’s usually what ends up happening, I rarely carry cash anymore.

I give them money with the promise that they will only spend it on drugs. If they don't do drugs I demand a refund.

poveryt persists because too much attention is being paid to other causes and issues instead of this one, which is the only one that can/should be talked about at once. also there is no better place to bring up the issue than the internet, and there is no better place on the internet than an idm forum.

My favourite aspect of the I Don't have Money music genre is the poverty tbqh, and that's why We Aren't The Money Makers dot calm is the best internet sight.

When people have asked me for money to buy food, I offer to take them and buy them food - anybody whose legitimately hungry will gladly accept. Those just wanting money for drink or drugs will turn you away.

is a way bigger problem than people generally think, and the modern left doesn't take it seriously enough (imho).. laying inequality at the feet of capitalism is so incredibly wrong that it isn't even worth discussing. the problem is way more serious and stems primarily from the inescapable pareto distribution (edit: added link)

edit2: and so what can be done about it? imo in society we need a proper mature discussion of the problem and conteplate "solutions" like redistribution, universal basic income etc and perfect them so that the solutions don't cause worse problems

personally? just ask urself what u can do about it around u.. if u r willing to act on it who knows how much a singular person could do..

Good move, if you feel that way about it. Personally I couldn’t give a stuff if they spend it on drugs. Better they get money from begging than from robbing someone.

when i was in san francisco the one time this woman walked up with the most absurd fake british accent i've ever heard and asked "excuse me sir, but could you spare $20?" i said no and boy did she fuckin' cuss me out!

Just quit drugs , get a hotel for a few days , jump online and send off a couple CVs and get real jobs. They don't look after themselves either , why would you give them a job when they clearly don't care to shower or shave for the interview , and they would probably rock up late too with some bullshit excuse about public transport . You get out what you put into life ya know , so don't feel bad about those people , they did it to themselves and deserve it. Lol. I miss bein poor & no slave to tha time stealin dollar. I'm terrible at spending, when I finally do splurge on something I end up realizin i was just as happy without it. Two "expensive" items I'd be genuinely sad to live without though are a PC/internet (access to music/film and linkeage to places far & wide) and my bike.

Yep I’m far less interested in having the latest this or that than I used to be. Still have the same tv since 2009. The cult of consumerism is hollow as fuck... just like the people who participate and promote it.
